“Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

• outtake from an e-mail reply I sent to an almost stranger a while ago, noticing later I also wrote it to myself:
—
‘How do we allow ourselves to be seen?

I don’t know.

But, in the words of Rilke, “I want to beg you, as much as I can, […], to be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

Allowing ourselves to be seen for who we are is the scariest endeavor for many of the most beautiful women I know, myself included. And scary things are hard to do alone. But the longer and deeper I dig into them, the more I sense they are a joy to do with faith and friends by our sides.’
