"Let's draw ourselves the size of our dreams."

At the start of the year, Renata, our Kids Explore coordinator, dreamed up a beautiful project. Together with visual artist Alexandre Makiolkr Bisner @bisner, she invited the children to draw themselves at real scale, as the person they imagine they’ll be when they grow up.

Over 3-hour sessions, friends, siblings and volunteers helped trace each child’s silhouette. Then the children drew how they see themselves and brought it all to life with paint. None of them had ever drawn on paper their own size!

And while they did, they reflected on where they come from and where they want to go, celebrating their origins and building confidence in their future.

When they were done, more than 20 incredible works, shown at Lisbon Project’s 9th anniversary celebration.

Kids Explore is a safe space where children find connection and belonging, so they can keep the joy of childhood and keep dreaming big. Thank you, Renata, Alexandre, and every volunteer who made this possible.

↪️ The short version? A stubborn idea, a student desk with a very good balcony to study, and a gut feeling that wouldn't quit: “Culture is written on the walls” (Justin Armstrong).

That idea grew into yesyoucan.spray 🫟 a Lisbon-based street art collective working at the intersection of public space, community and creativity.

🫟 If you're the kind of person who'd rather understand a mural than just photograph it - who wants to come home with stories, not (just) souvenirs - you already get why this matters to us.

🫟 15 years, one full crew of artists, researchers and storytellers, and a couple of proud furry rebels who sniff every experience later - a colourful chaos included 🐾 Not tour guides reading off a script. We build real relationships with the people who actually shape what this city looks and feels like.

P.s. Want the full, messy original story (spraycan/cap included)? It's in our newsletter 📧 Sign up now. Or DM us for the link.
