long time no see!!
so much has happened since I last posted on this page, so here’s a recap on the dogs … just over a year ago our sweet Scout crossed the rainbow bridge, this loss was particularly painful for us. Not only did we loose our beloved Scoutie bear but a part of Rigby also died that day. She lost her sister, her emotional support dog, her best friend and that left her feeling very lost. The bond they shared was so unique, Rigby is a very soft and nervous girl, shes never lived in a one dog household so naturally she took a lot of her cues from Scout. Without her around Rigby’s confidence took a big hit, her grief mixed with our own made the loss even more upsetting. Slowly but surely she has realized that life is still worth living and despite the inevitable slow downs that aging comes with she is doing really well. She still gets lots of social time with her pals and cuddles with her cats, she goes on daily hikes which are now slow and mainly about sniffing. In November she had surgery to remove a mass on her eyelid, in March she was diagnosed with arthritis in all four legs so in May we started her on meloxicam for pain management, in June she turned eleven years old and spent her birthday doing all of the things she loves (swimming, sniffing, getting pets and a special toppl dinner)
We don’t know how long we will have with her and its so sad to watch her slow down but that is the reality of owning a senior dog, it’s bittersweet … and we have been so blessed to watch her live such a long and fulfilled life.
I get multiple comments each week on how well she is doing and how good she looks for her age and that always feels like the best compliment 🥹🧡
