It’s raining hard now, but this was such a great weekend of new and old friends, art, exploring Hudson Valley businesses and foods and trails, and feeling very lucky and very cozy. Thank you again @pauledavis @bixpixs @lex_growl @dani_frimer for having me at Sips & Scripts, and what a joy! Seeing Every Night At Midnight read by such wonderful actors was the most fun! #HudsonValley #Sips&Scripts #artists #nature #deer

Congratulations Bixby! @bixpixs Winner! Best actor narrative short @mysticfilmfest !! Such a beautiful performance, nuanced, authentic, heartfelt and hilarious! A perfect foil for “Erik” played brilliantly by Alexander Lambie @lambie0865 . Thank you Festival founder & director, Shareen Anderson and your fantastic Mystic Film Festival Team @mysticfilmfest for all the Sponge love: for selecting our film, for the warm reception during a nor’easter and for recognizing Bixby’s amazing performance! How awesome! #yellowspongeisthedishsponge #mysticfilmfestival

What happens when “my way” quietly becomes “the right way”?

Michele Noble’s The Yellow Sponge Is the Dish Sponge begins with a familiar domestic argument: which sponge to use, how often to wash the sheets, whether Lysol wipes belong anywhere near the sink. But the film gradually reveals that the real conflict isn’t cleanliness. It’s what happens when one partner’s preferred method becomes the standard the other feels perpetually judged against.

Written by and starring Bixby Elliot opposite Alexander Lambie, the short finds tenderness inside irritation, comedy inside correction, and a surprisingly precise visual language for what it means to stop fully seeing the person on the other side of an argument.

Our latest Atlantis Case Study, “There Is No Yellow Sponge,” follows the film’s use of domestic space, direct address, temporal fragments, and one crucial shift in camera access as Jason and Erik move from disagreement toward recognition.
