Guest and industry lectures are a core component of the QUT ID course and allow students to hear from and learn from industry professionals - who are usually proud QUT alumni!

This semester, final year ID students were incredibly lucky to hear from Dr Ben Kraal @bjkraal who is Director of User Experience at @symplicit about the importance and relevance of theory in practice. He unpacked the ways in which theory helps to be a better designer in almost every way!

Further, Rob Geddes @robgeddesfdia - Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame inductee - also inspired students by highlighting his career path as one of the first graduates from QUT Industrial Design. Rob walked through his incredible career and explained to students that success often starts with humble beginnings.

We hope to show you more of our invited industry guests in the coming weeks but for now we thanks all the incredible colleagues who come to inspire and motivate our student to be fearless, positive and strong leaders! 👍🏼💯

Register to our this online panel discussion through Eventbrite in our bio!

Once again we are celebrating World Industrial Design Day with our annual panel discussion. The theme is “The Future We Want” and we will be asking questions that will spark meaningful conversation about what design for futures looks like and how we can leverage design to create the futures we want?

We are excited to announce our two final panellists:

Dr Ben Kraal is Director of Experience Design and Head of Research and Strategy at Symplicit, a customer led innovation consultancy. Ben’s background spans computer science, sociology, and design, previously he was a research fellow and lecturer in Industrial Design at QUT.

Dr Rebecca Price is an Associate Professor of Transition Design at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. Rebecca teaches and researches how design can drive systemic change with special interest in mobility contexts.

For now, make sure you register to attend through the eventbrite link on our bio!

We can’t wait to see you all online!
