POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We realized pretty quickly that we probably weren’t going to find the perfect house AND the perfect land AND the perfect location all in one package (especially within our budget).

So we had to decide what mattered most to our family.

And for us, it was location, land, and the amenities that were already on the property. 🌿

📍 We wanted to stay in Florida for our homeschool scholarship
🏝️ We wanted to be close enough to enjoy the gorgeous Panhandle beaches
✈️ We needed to be within about 45 minutes of an airport because my husband travels for work
❤️ We wanted to be close to family
💰 And, yes, having no state income tax was part of the equation too. 😂

Then when we found a property with 3.8 acres, beautiful trees and privacy, a barn with electricity, a second septic system AND an existing fenced area… those things became more important to us than having a house that looked perfect from day one.

And one year later, I’m really glad we made that choice.

Because the house can change.

You can renovate a house. You can decorate a house. You can slowly make it yours.

But you can’t move the property, change the location, or magically create mature trees and privacy. 🌳

That was one of our biggest lessons when buying our homestead — figure out what you absolutely cannot change, and prioritize those things first.

Next up in this series: THE ANIMALS. 🐐🐓🐖🐇

And after a year of having all these different species… I definitely have some opinions. 😂

Follow along because I’m sharing what I’d recommend, what I’d do differently, and what I wish I knew before starting our homestead!

Turns out our therapy has hooves, feathers, and fur. 😂

Maybe the secret to happiness really is just Jesus and some animals out back. 🤎🐐🐖🐓🐈🐕

Our little homestead has brought so much joy, laughter, chaos 😂 and purpose to our family. There’s just something about slowing down, caring for animals, getting your hands dirty, and watching your kids grow up surrounded by it all.

It’s not always easy… but these are the moments I know we’ll look back on and treasure. 🥹

If you love Jesus, animals, homesteading, family life & a little bit of country chaos, follow along. 🌿🤎

More animals, more homestead life, and plenty of adventures coming your way! 🐐✨
