With @timetodrivefest just weeks away, @officialcptime approaching 9K followers organically, and our upcoming Jaeger-LeCoultre pre-event, I want to highlight three brothers in healthcare who inspire me far beyond their watch collections.

@black_olive911 — A brother who brings a smile to everyone around him. His collection is HEAVY, but it doesn’t compare to his brilliance as an oral surgeon or, more importantly, the father he is to two incredible young soccer athletes. His energy is contagious.

@drcharlesboyd — One of the first brothers to join our club and someone who inspires me in work and play. He’s your favorite doctor’s favorite doctor! His drive pushes me to work harder and enjoy life more. Above all, he’s a true family man with five beautiful daughters who are all thriving. That’s real success.

@dnadoc53 — One of the most thoughtful and measured people I know. I value our conversations about balancing work, family, and watches. His relationship with his boys reminds me of mine with my son: close, intentional, teaching the value of hard work while allowing them to find their own paths. He knows how to remind you that you’re doing well while offering a fresh perspective that helps you grow.

What I admire most about these brothers is the order of their priorities:

Family.
Work.
Watches.

In a hobby where it’s easy to focus on what someone owns, these men remind me that what matters most is who you are, the lives you touch, and the family you build.

I’m blessed to call them brothers and learn from their wisdom and friendship.

The watches bring us together. The relationships make CP Time special. ⌚️❤️

📍 “Everybody knows BK.”

By the end of Episode 22, it wasn’t just an interview — it was family. Judge Bugg and Judge Smalls closed things out giving BK Fulton his flowers, and it hit different.

“He did not oversell you at all. You are a true renaissance man.”

“I’m honored to be a mentee. I’m honored to have developed this friendship. But I think I’m even more honored to be able to call you a brother.”

From meeting on his birthday years ago to sitting across from him in studio — this episode is as much about mentorship and brotherhood as it is about faith, film, and purpose.

📍 W.E.B. Du Bois believed art is a form of propaganda. BK Fulton believes it too — and it’s the whole reason he got into film.

“Are you telling the stories that lift up humanity and bring us together? Or are you telling the stories that stoke our fears and cause us to move apart?”

BK is intentional about every story he puts out into the world — intergenerational, inter-ethnic, women as heroes, and yes, the bad guys always get what’s coming. Not by accident. By design.

“When you have the right stories, when you’re motivated for the right reasons, you choose love.”

He’s using his platform as a filmmaker and Broadway producer to inspire more compassion, more kindness, more people looking out for each other — and he’s found others willing to bring their own gifts to that same mission.

Storytelling with purpose. That’s the throughline of everything BK builds.

📍 “My Jackie is my proof of God.”

2017. Three years into marriage. A trip to Sicily on the calendar. Then a call: Jackie’s head is hurting, and she doesn’t get headaches.

BK rushed her to the hospital, where doctors discovered two aneurysms and an AVM — one aneurysm had already ruptured. It’s the kind of condition most people don’t find out about until it’s too late.

The doctors prepared him for the worst: a 1% chance she’d ever go back to work. Eight months in the hospital. Eight more months learning to walk, talk, and eat again. BK moved into the hospital to be by her side.

Two weeks later, she was home.

Four weeks later, she was back at work.

Five weeks later, she was driving again.

“It wasn’t her time.” BK calls it their miracle — one that fortified their marriage, their faith, and their belief in taking care of themselves for the long road ahead.

This is one of the most powerful stories in Episode 22.

📍 A blizzard. A stranded car. His twin sons in the back seat.

BK Fulton was driving home in West Virginia when his car got stuck in the snow at a spot called Cow Creek. He looked in his rearview mirror and saw a man getting out of a station wagon — flip-flops, shorts, a Rebel flag on his cap — walking toward the car.

BK cracked the window, bracing for the worst.

“Can I help you? Look like you need it. Can we push you up the hill?”

Three white men he’d never met — strangers he’d already judged — pushed his car up that hill and got a father and his two sons home safe.

“They turned out to be angels.”

BK still wishes he’d gotten their names. But the lesson stuck: don’t judge a book by its cover. Most people, when you actually give them the chance, are decent.

📍 In 1965, a psychiatrist told teachers he had 10 “gifted” students in their class. Told the students the same thing. Give them extra attention, he said — they’re special.

They outperformed everyone.

Except they weren’t gifted at all. They were picked at random.

BK Fulton breaks down the Rosenthal Effect — and why it cuts both ways. Tell a kid they’re special, they rise to it. Tell a kid they’re not valuable, not smart, don’t matter — their mind believes that too.

“What a lot of children from underserved communities have to go through is they’ve gotta unlearn a lot of the evil, the wicked, the crazy stuff that they’re taught about who they’re not, so they can step into who they are.”

The statues we build. The posters on the wall. The books we assign. It’s all programming young minds — for better or worse. And when we fail to tell every young person how much they’re capable of, we don’t just fail them. We fail all of us — because the cure for ALS, for Alzheimer’s, for cancer might be sitting in a classroom right now, waiting for someone to believe in them first.

This is a conversation every parent, teacher, and mentor needs to hear.

🎬 Before “Never Picked, But Chosen,” there was another story BK Fulton felt called to tell.

“W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel With a Cause” — produced by BK’s own @soulidiflyproductions — released this past May and is now streaming on PBS, American Masters, Apple, Android, and Roku. The film tells the story of W.E.B. Du Bois and features Courtney B. Vance, Jeffrey Wright, Common, and Viola Davis as narrator, directed by Peabody Award-winning director Rita Coburn.

This is exactly the kind of work BK set out to make when he got into film — stories that educate, that fill in the gaps history left out, that give people their flowers while we can still say their names. Compelling, overdue, and worth your time.

📍 People keep telling @bkfulton he should run for office. “You’re eloquent, BK.”

His response? Honest, and hilarious.

“I’m gonna meet somebody who gets out of pocket and slap the you know what out of them.”

BK admits he’s working on patience — but growing up in the 757/804 built a certain kind of “don’t take no mess” energy into him that doesn’t exactly translate to the political arena. Faith has taught him a lot, but some old ways die hard.

“If somebody uninvited comes into my domain, they’re gonna have a bad day.”

This is one of the funniest, most real moments from Episode 22 — hear it in context, along with everything else BK gets into on faith, purpose, and building a life bigger than any one title.

On Sunday, we had our Inaugural HBCU Micro-scholarship Unity Gathering in Atlanta, GA!

It was an amazing undertaking to fundraise for our HBCU Micro-scholarships that brought together a talented team to create a memorable event. Hosted at The Gathering Spot, it was a night of learning, food, music, awards, and more. I’m so very grateful to our board and volunteers who helped pull it all together. Folks came as faraway as Kansas, Texas, and Virginia to sit in the audience with history as my mother, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, and Ambassador Andrew Young shared their incredible stories moderated by Maurice Johnson.

Four awards were giving out. Investigative Reporter, Jerry Mitchell, received the Impact Award. Freedom Singer, Rutha Mae Harris, received the Icon Award. Lauryn Wilson received the Ambassador Award. Ambassador Young received the Leadership & Legacy Award.

I told Rutha Mae she had 90 seconds for her acceptance speech. She said a few words and then brought the house down as she sang freedom songs. It was completely unexpected and simply incredible. There was also a special choral reading dedicated to the Freedom Rides.

Board Member BK Fulton and his wife Jackie Stone announced a fundraising challenge. They are going to match up to $25,000 towards the HBCU Micro-scholarship fund. To help reach that goal donate at https://joantrumpauermulholland.org/scholarship-fund/

📍 At 16, BK Fulton wrote a poem trying to understand why his sister Shauna — who had Rett syndrome — couldn’t walk or talk the way he could.

34 years later, at his wife’s urging, that poem became a children’s book.

“I didn’t count her out. She ran in her mind. She danced in her dreams. And she was happy — because she was alive.”

BK says he learned more about leadership and how to treat people from taking care of his sister than from any class he ever took. The poem is about discovery — understanding that God’s packaging comes in different forms, and that ability isn’t the measure of a life well-lived.

📍 A girl in high school once told BK Fulton she couldn’t date him because he was “too dark.”

That one comment kept him away from a certain kind of woman for 30 years — until he met his wife, a former cheerleader, a lawyer, and the person he calls his “proof of God.”

But this isn’t really a story about romance. It’s about affirmation.

“I’m my best when someone says, ‘BK, you’re doing good.’”

BK opens up about needing “cheerleaders” in his life — not the pom-poms, but people who encourage him with that same enthusiasm. His wife. His friends. The people who show up for him. Because even at the top, doubt doesn’t fully go away. We all need someone in our corner asking if we’re doing okay — and telling us when we are.

Words of affirmation might be the most underrated love language there is.
