A playful powder room.

We had such a great time working with all of the different components and bringing them together to deliver such an interesting and refined build.

Amongst all the action, this powder room also features a more subtle and functional attribute in the stone cladded push to open drawer seamlessly incorporated into the vanity. powder room with heron mural wallpaper, green marble vanity, arched mirror and globe wall lights, opus 5, caulfield north

Some pictures from our family trip to the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park part 2. Loved seeing the abundance of blooms and surprisingly water. The kids loved learning about bush tucker and we will seek to learn more about bush tucker in Naarm. 💛

A new house on a street of Californian bungalows, for clients who didn't want to add another glassy two-storey box to it.

So it stays low and relaxed: a bungalow seen through a Palm Springs lens, with a bit of Queenslander in the verandah, in materials chosen to weather rather than date.

The plan is built around keeping the family together. The shared spaces are the best rooms in the house, so nobody's drawn off to disappear into a bedroom. From the kitchen you can keep an eye on the youngest and his mates on the shaded front porch, while the older kids move between the pool out the back and the street. Visitors come in around the back, so they never walk past the bedrooms.

A family house where everyone stays in sight of each other.

The Ian Potter State Theatre in Melbourne has reopened following its first major refurbishment since opening in 1984. The works included an extensive refurbishment of the ornate 2,000-seat auditorium and its brass-detailed ceiling, as well as upgrades to accessibility and building systems and the addition of new backstage facilities. Led by NH Architecture in collaboration with Snøhetta’s Melbourne office, the project builds on the theatre’s original design by architect Roy Grounds and interior designer John Truscott.

The theatre’s reopening marks the first completed milestone of the Victorian Government’s $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, with further works to the backstage areas and the Theatres Building continuing.

Jill Garner AO, Victorian Government Architect, and David Islip, Principal Adviser, have been involved in the project since 2018 through the MAPCo Design Excellence Committee, helping to align state infrastructure objectives with heritage conservation and contemporary design.

The best homes know when to honour the past and when to write a new chapter.

3 Glanfield St, Northcote is that home.

Original Edwardian character sets the tone - ceiling roses, leadlight and fireplaces - before giving way to cathedral ceilings, a north-facing kitchen and a sunken living zone that pulls you straight through to the garden.

Two eras. One home that holds them both without apology. Beautifully reimagined by FIGR Architects.

Now on the market. For all enquiries contact @sam_rig_ at Jellis Craig.

Save this if heritage with a modern point of view is your kind of home.
