All day in the workshop today... lots of waxed jackets for repair and re-lining.
.
Just stopped for a quick coffee so ran up the lane with the dog...
.
Wearing my old @belstaffmotorcycle “racemaster” jacket. Over 20 years old, well worn on long motorcycle trips, stuffed in backpacks and still going strong.
.
Also wearing a heavy tweed cap made by me 🧢

My first road legal bike was a blue Yamaha FS1E just like this one. As a “moped” it wasn’t strictly a motorcycle but I absolutely loved my Fizzy (wish I still had it).
.
What was your first bike???

After a disappointing day in the shop I decided to take the looong way home as an antidote... the antidote worked 😀

Out and about on the bike today... beautiful weather and dry roads 😀
.
Only one little problem! On a left hand bend when a blue car coming the other way crossed over to my side of the road causing me to get upright, swerve to avoid him and brake really hard. It was too late to avoid crashing and I ended up heading into the hedge on the outside of the bend. Bike stopped... I didn’t. Catapulted over the bike and landed a few feet past it.
.
Blue car didn’t stop!
.
After carrying out a top to toe self assessment I got the bike upright and checked her over. As almost no damage at all!!!
.
I’d braked hard so I guess I’d taken a lot of the energy out of the collision. Added to which, the hedge was just a hedge. No hidden wall or Devon bank. No fence posts.
.
I cleaned the foliage out of the levers, frame and handlebars. Checked everything was true, made sure the lights and indicators still worked then fired her up for a somewhat sedate ride to a jet wash where I washed her down and rechecked everything again.
.
Once home I got the tools out and made sure everything that should be tight was then headed in for bath.
.
Just a couple of bruises to show for the adventure and another tale to tell.
.
Karma will catch up to the driver of the blue car!
.
Tomorrow I’m going to phone @union_road_moto_velo and get the bike booked in for a full inspection 👍

This... just this 😃
.
I had my first bike when I was 13 (off road, Honda Elsinore)... at 16 my first road bike was a Yamaha FX1E moped. In the intervening 45 years there have been many bikes of varying sizes and marques. All of them made me smile; but this bike has to rank amongst the most joyful 😀
.
She is not quick. She is mechanically simple and lacks any kind of electronic gadgetry. She growls and burbles at tickover, vibrates and rattles... but oh how she makes me smile 😃.
.
Every journey is a joy, every day an adventure. Rain or shine, hot or cold.

I love Talulah, my Harley Sportster, but I really miss this little bobber. I’d dearly like to buy her back and make her into a “bar hopper”
.
Such a beautiful little bike and a joy to ride 😃

Looking back about a year when I went up to @spokeandstringer in Bristol to the unveiling of a @spitfirespeedshop custom bike.
.
What a blinder of a night it turned out to be! Music by @brokendollarsuk loads of fantastic bikes, great food and venue, brilliant people and a huge amount of laughter.
