Philadelphia didn’t disappoint.

500+ Black museum leaders. Three days. One city that knows exactly what this work means.

“This is the family reunion of all family reunions. This is the cookout. The homecoming of Black museums.”

Proud to represent @thenmaam alongside @alyssadituro at #AAAM2026. We came to learn, connect, and bring it all back home to Nashville.

The field is in good hands. And we are just getting started.

Music starts here. 🎵

The City of Brotherly Love gave us just that - LOVE. We had the most amazing time in Philly with our colleagues from across the country.

Gathering like this, in a place that welcomes us gives us something valuable to take home with us. It is a huge reminder of how important this work is that we do. This work today will be the stories of generations in the future.
Thank you to everyone who helped add to our story.

The Association of African American Museums conference was nothing short of amazing!

Three amazing days learning, exploring Philly, and seeing some amazing institutions. I met so many humans doing GREAT work in Black cultural preservation all across the country, and feel so inspired.

I truly have a dream job 🥹

Sometimes I have to stop and remind myself just how cool my job is.

I get to travel across the country, attend museum conferences, explore incredible museums and cultural institutions, meet people doing meaningful work, and bring all of that inspiration and knowledge back home with me.

And I get to do it alongside a small but mighty team that somehow manages to dream big, move fast, and make a whole lot happen.

Working in museums means constantly learning, asking questions, preserving stories, building community, and thinking about how we tell history in ways that matter. I’m incredibly proud of the work I get to be a part of and still a little amazed that this is actually my job.

Very grateful. Very proud. Very cool. 🥹🏛️✈️

50 Years Strong!

We are still smiling from our 50th Anniversary Jubilee, and we couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate five decades of history, culture, and community.

A big thanks to @djdiamondkuts for keeping the whole night moving, and to the @urbanguerillaorchestra for bringing such incredible energy to the stage. We were so glad to have special guest @marshaambrosius to close the night with all the feels.

To all our vendors — thank you for showing up and showing out. And to the Association of African American Museums, we appreciate you standing alongside us as always.

And to our FAAMPily: this one's for you. Fifty years of showing up, believing in this work, and being part of the greater family. We wouldn't be here without you.

Here's to the next 50.

Kinda Chic trend but make it impactful.
Why being at @blackmuseumsemp national conference advances our mission at Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park.
