We Have Ways Fest 2026 - Day Two
A bad day to wake up in Milton Keynes at 7.55am and the taxi was for 8.00am. I made it nonetheless. Met some airborne chaps in the woods by the brewery. Just about made it for the first talk of the day on my list, The Royal Navy: Winning WW2 with Brian Lavery and Stephen Prince. Then it was straight over to the Vintage Tearoom for a cup of much needed tea and admired a 25 pounder field gun as the tea woke me up. Second talk of the day was Lucy Bettridge-Dyson who shared the story of her Grandfather who was in 44 Royal Marine Commandos and their fight in the Arakan in Burma. Then it was time to clamber onto a Sexton. The third talk I went to was John Nichol who gave a talk on the Blitz which is the topic of his latest book. Later after a Yorkshire pudding wrap a Kubelwagen went for a spin before I caught a Valentine that was being reversed into the vehicle/artillery paddock. As I was wandering around the main building I decided to try some of the Blackpit's selection of beers and chose a Goshawk, which was very good. Before ending the day at the North Africa camp.

We Have Ways Fest 2026 - Day One
For those that might not know there is a rather awesome Second World War history festival called We Have Ways Fest. It's a bit like an extension of the hugely popular We Have Ways of Making You Talk military history podcast hosted by historian James Holland and comedian/author Al Murray.
It features stages, tents, and discussion panels hosting highly regarded military historians, authors, researchers, and veterans discussing campaigns, tactics, intelligence, and untold wartime stories.
There are also living history encampments, wargaming, scale modelling, a bookshop, entertainment and musical performances. And for those that like beer its held at an actual brewery called the Blackpit.
Its been running for six years now, regretfully this year was only my second visit.
On arrival at the entrance I could not help but admire some chap's Hurricane model in a cardboard box. It was incredible to see a Cromwell and Valentine on the move, a Jagdpanzer 38 and a T-34. I sat down for two discussion one on Mers el Kébir and 1942 as a whole and practical on disabling a German parachute mine.

From start to finish, and even afterwards, the Blackpit 5km & 10km is up there with the very best of our Ales & Trails events from breweries.

The whole concept of a fun trail run from a gorgeous venue and having a beer afterwards (soft drinks available too!) has really caught on - our event at the awesome Blackpit Brewery is an absolute cracker.

Join us on October 18th, there's a 5km option this year along with the 10km event; which could well mean that you get to the bar first!

If you haven't been to Blackpit before, it's tucked next to Silverstone motor racing circuit and is perfect for a run; beautiful scenery with the occasional F1 soundtrack!!
