Found another lovely spot in Abu Dhabi ☕️✨

Visited Blacksmith Coffee Company at NYU Abu Dhabi and really loved the vibe here. 🤎

What stood out for me? Good tables where you can actually sit down and properly work 💻☕️ — not just a café where you squeeze in with your laptop!

Great coffee, a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful setting. Definitely one to keep in mind when you need a change of scenery for a few hours of work.

A second nomination for Blacksmith Coffee Company // for the Best Use of Materiality in Interior Design @commercial_interior_design Awards for 2026.

This started as a UAE focused cupping table and outgrew the room.

Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi and Lebanon are all pulling up a chair for Slurp & Socialize.

Different countries, same language, great coffee.

We will see you today at Victoria Arduino Experience Lab, starting at 2 PM.

Comment Slurp and I’ll DM you the link to register.

Like many young people chasing a better future, Ruben @rubenadam left Indonesia believing a coffee job in the UAE would help him build a new life.

Instead, he found himself trapped in a scam. The promised coffee shop didn’t exist. His salary never arrived. His passport was taken away. For months, he worked long hours wondering if he had made the biggest mistake of his life.

Eventually, he came up with a desperate plan. He bought a plane ticket home just to convince his employer to return his passport. At the airport, instead of boarding the flight, he called a coffee professional he knew — Sumaiya.

“Just come,” Sumaiya told him.

That phone call changed everything. What followed were years of rebuilding. @blacksmith_coffee gave him a fresh start. Later, opportunities at @benchmark.coffee and @archers.ae helped him continue growing.

Along the way, there were difficult months when every dirham mattered, when lunch and dinner could be as simple as rice and chips, and when the future still felt uncertain. But coffee also brought people who believed in him before he believed in himself.

Today, many people know Ruben as the friendly, humble barista champion they meet at international coffee events. Only few know the story behind the smile. Few know that the young man standing at an airport with nowhere to go would one day become the UAE Barista Champion.
