Lately, I’ve been wearing more hats than most may realize. But then again, we all do in our daily lives.

Some represent our professions. Others reflect our commitments to family, friends, and community. And still others come with responsibilities we never anticipated assuming.

Some we wear by choice. Others are handed to us by circumstance.

Each comes with its own expectations, challenges, and opportunities to make a difference.

And while it’s easy to become consumed by the demands of any particular role, I’ve come to appreciate that what matters most isn’t the hat we wear, but the character of the person underneath it.

Titles change. Responsibilities evolve. Opportunities come and go.

But integrity, humility, accountability, and a willingness to serve should remain constant.

I’m learning that wearing more hats doesn’t necessarily mean accomplishing more. Sometimes, it simply means being entrusted with more—and recognizing the importance of showing up, following through, and giving our best wherever we’re needed.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about how many hats we wear.

It’s about how well we wear them.

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 4:2

Even the best pre-race strategy cannot account for the intangibles that come into play after the green flag drops.

After running well in practice and qualifying on the front row, the No. 15 Toyota made contact with the wall early in the second stage, limping into pit road with a blown right-front tire and damage to the quarter panel.

The Tricon Garage team went to work, making the necessary repairs and adjustments, keeping driver Tanner Gray in the race and competitive enough to finish 19th.

Sitting with his family on the pit box, we shared an enthusiastic shrug, accompanied by a hint of optimism, as the checkered flag waved.

In that moment, it served as a quick reminder that we don’t always get to choose the circumstances we encounter, but we do have a say in how we respond to them.

Preparation puts us in position. Adversity tests our resolve. And perseverance often determines whether we make it to the finish.

Some days, victory isn’t measured by where we finish, but by what we’re willing to overcome just to get there.

And there’s something to be said for having good people in your corner when the race doesn’t unfold quite the way you envisioned.

After all, there’s always another track to visit, and race to run, right around the corner.

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”
— Ecclesiastes 9:11

I think my face tells the story about our day @itsbristolbaby. P2 in practice, then with 10 minuets to go we blew an inner axle seal 🙄. While fixing it a storm blew in and had a lightning delay which cancelled qualifying. Started p20 and @tannergray15 did a bad ass job driving it up into the top 10. Got caught speeding down pit road. Had to go to the back and came back to finish p16. Try again next week at Kansas!
