Black history is the heartbeat of American history.
In every innovation, every cultural shift, every rhythm that changed the sound of a generation, our fingerprints remain.

Carry that inheritance with pride and courage. You are part of a lineage that has always transformed the landscape.

In this rare CBS classroom clip from the 1950s, a group of young Black students share what they want to be when they grow up — a teacher, a nurse, a doctor, a dentist.

Their voices carry something deeper than childhood imagination — they echo generations of hope, ambition, and quiet resistance.

In a time when opportunity wasn’t promised, they still dreamed out loud. And those dreams… became the foundation for everything we are today.

This piano prodigy was reportedly the first Black American to have her own TV show, The Hazel Scott Show, which premiered on July 3, 1950. She also refused to perform before segregated audiences and turned down stereotypical roles in Hollywood. In 1949 when a waitress at a Pasco, Washington restaurant refused to serve her and a friend because of their race, she successfully sued the owners of the restaurant.

Black Romance on Film// #HappyBlackHistoryMonth

“Watch the first on-screen kiss between
Black actors in 1898.“ - @nowthis

“What was electric for me about it was the through line, the connectivity,” Barry Jenkins told a reporter who asked him about the 30-second treasure. ”We always talk about generational trauma, but what about generational joy? Generational love? That’s what I found in the video.” - Quartz article

Context: It was produced by William Selig, a pioneering filmmaker. ]

Do you believe unconditional love exists?

Transcript:
I don’t believe in unconditional love. You can’t just love someone no matter what they do. I mean, damn. There have to be conditions. Right?

Of course, no one should allow anyone to treat them badly or accept abuse of any kind.
But that’s not what unconditional love is about.
It’s about having empathy while erasing judgments.
No strings attached.
It’s selfless.
It’s reciprocal and real.
It’s not a myth.

Based on what you just shared with me about your upbringing,
it sounds like something that you didn’t receive as a child.
I mean, your mother didn’t choose you when it came to your stepfather. Your father chose addiction over you.
At least in your eyes. Has anyone ever said to you, I love you.
I’m here for you. And I’m not leaving no matter what.

No.
No one.

Maybe that’s why you don’t believe it exists.
Because for you, it never has.

That‘s why it‘s so important to heal your inner child

We are shocked and sad to report that veteran actor and musician #MalcolmJamalWarner has passed away at the age of 54.⁣
⁣
The actor, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on the ‘80s sitcom The Cosby Show, was in Costa Rica on a family vacation and drowned while swimming, a source confirmed to PEOPLE. A rep for Warner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
