AHH! SF!

Entrusted to lead the way, navigate the ATAK, and establish a trail in a near pitch black route. Then switched to gunner role when the skirmish started.

It’s easy to focus on the gear, the comms setup, and how "Tacticool" you look in the Field. But taking part in EXERCISE: VALHALLA by MilSim Philippines and being side by side with Blackwater Unit, 917th SOU, 214, and ReCap highlighted something much larger than running scenarios in kit.

Seeing the posts and photos from teammates and other participants who had the opportunity to interact with the local Aeta community added an entirely different layer to this experience. While our team didn't get to engage directly this time around, seeing those interactions put everything into perspective. It’s a solid reminder that the training isn't for offense, it never was— it was always about defending our home which we filipinos share. It shifts the mindset from just dressing up and playing operator to understanding the broader impact, respect, and presence required in the field.

Beyond that, interoperability and planning remain the real backbone of any operation. Good gear and tech like ATAK are great assets, and physical fitness is a baseline, but mental strength and backing up your team when doubts creep in are what actually carry a unit through. As an RTO, my most critical tools are still my notebook, radio, and clear communication. The planning, coordination, and genuine friendships formed across different units accomplish the mission—the equipment is just there to support it.

Massive respect to our men and women in uniform who perform this standard every day, and to everyone who put in the planning work behind the scenes to make this FTX happen.

ABOVE ALL... HONOR & WE FIGHT AS ONE.

Last weekend’s two-day training exercise provided valuable hands-on experience. Under the guidance of our NAVSOG SEAL instructor, we received instruction and practical training in various tactical and combat skills.

The training not only served as preparation for military exercises but also provided essential knowledge and skills that contribute to my development and readiness as a Navy reservist. More importantly, it strengthened our Unit’s capabilities, coordination, and effectiveness in carrying out tasks.
