Chapter 45 is over….

It’s been a good trip around the sun. Some heartbreak, a lot of laughs, plenty of adventure, and more fun than I deserve. Mostly, I’m just thankful for my friends and family.

Kicking off Chapter 46 on a wildfire assignment in Burns, OR. Dirty boots, long days, California CIMT Team 4 let’s get this done 💪

Yesterday I took a walk down my favorite winter path. After a fresh snow and a hit of sun, the smell of sage is impossible to explain. It always reminds me of Johnny and this life we created together.

Over the past 5 months, I have known too many soul dogs that have made their journey to the stars. Too many. So many that it’s made it impossible to deny that there is some meant to be force behind all of this. And I do not think that it’s coincidence that Johnny had to go first. Once a pack leader, always a pack leader.

It’s also given me the unique opportunity to hold some of these people I love so much as they move through this unspeakable grief, which has been so unexpectedly healing for me - shared human experiences and shared love within them - I don’t think there is anything more powerful.

There is no greater love than a dog’s love; you’ll never convince me otherwise. I am blessed to have loved and cherished each of these pups (even if Dagwood was only through social, I felt like I knew him.)

The sparkling snow and the smell of sage inspired me to spend a few minutes honoring these pups - our greatest loves.

Just had to use this audio….

I’m making the most of my furlough. I was down in Laughlin for some desert racing. Then to Needles for the Rebelle Rally finish. Then headed over to Sedona, Phoenix, Flagstaff, St. George and back into Nevada. Putting some miles in and enjoying every minute on the road.

A day to cherish. I have so much gratitude and joy to our family that gathered with us to celebrate mine and Meredith's commitment to each other. ☀️ 🌑

We got rained out of our outdoor location but were fortunate to have a venue to retreat to. After a hasty reorganization of tables and chairs we had an aisle for Meredith to walk down.

When we changed plans last minute she sent me a text that said "I'm sorry I left you at the alter but I promise I'm still going to marry you" 🙃 20 minutes later she made good on that promise.

Yo the eastern sierras are friggin huge.

Back in California to climb mountains for a week. Wasn’t sure where my comfort level is these days, but we hit it and then kept going for a few thousand more feet. 😂

Found the pucker, powered through, and found the whole reason I came out and climbed.

Huge thanks to @blainer_blainer for always being a most excellent friend and patient adventure partner.
