So excited to say that I just taught my very first portraiture workshop at @blainesartak!!

I cannot express the gratitude I felt to have so much interest in the workshop. Who knew Anchorage had such a knack for academic painting study!!

Most of all, I’m incredibly appreciative to the students who came, not knowing quite what they were getting themselves into. They showed up with so much fire, excitement, and genuine hunger to learn, and I truly could not have asked for a better group. They soaked up knowledge like sponges and asked such thoughtful, intelligent questions. It was an absolute joy to teach them.

Feeling overwhelmed with happiness by all of it <3

Special thank you to my dear friend @ruby_valentine_ for being our fabulous model!

God, I love being a business member at my local art store. 😅🎨

$63.92 worth of supplies and decor.
-$56.96 business discount.
Final total: $7.13. 😂
This is how they keep me coming back.

Well… it’s been a few weeks. 😂 But we’re back.
After stepping away from the painting for a while due to some.......events, I finally got back in front of the canvas and managed to make some progress on the lighthouse.
I picked up where I left off with the cloud formations and atmosphere, continuing to build out the upper portion of the sky and working toward that lighter area around the moon. Which by the way has been a real pain (color theory is a b**ch)
It may not look like a massive change at first glance, but after being away from a painting this long, even getting back into the rhythm of it feels like progress.
And honestly, I needed a break of some kind.
The last few weeks have been a lot, and this painting has become more than just another piece I'm working on. It's been a place I can step away from everything else for a little while, slow down, and just focus on putting paint on the canvas despite the difficulty in doing so.
Now we're slowly bringing this 48×60 oil painting back to life.
The burnt sienna foundation is still peeking through in places and one thing im absolutely deading is the fact the grid is showing through the paint (ill fix that somehow), the clouds are starting to develop, and little by little the atmosphere is beginning to look like the image I've had in my head for so long.
There's still a lot of painting left to do. 😂
The lighthouse is still old and decrepit.
And somehow…
the light is still burning.
So the question remains:
Who is keeping it lit?
No spoilers. 😉
Any theories? Perhaps I can find a way to paint into the theories 😄
One brushstroke at a time.
One chapter at a time.
The story continues.
