Oh man, how to put this weekend into words...

It's a wild thing being a sports fan. You concoct plans with your friends to travel 2,500 miles, flying via connections and spending 7 hours in a car just to get to a game where you're expected to lose. And if that isn't enough, you get there, along with a few thousand people who made similar decisions to travel to enemy territory, to sit in the far corner of a stadium and stare out at 111,000 people who want nothing more than to watch you lose, so much so that they fill the place with noise to the point that the stands under your feet literally bounce.

And for those that have always told themselves "sports are stupid" or "why do people care about this?" You're probably right. But we care about all sorts of things that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. What I know does is the friendships and bonds I've built with so many of the people I get to experience college football with.

This weekend, I got to spend time with some of my closest friends, some of whom I have known my whole life. And our group, for what it is worth, has chosen to care about this. To spend time together in the faint hope that all this work, all this energy we expend watching men who have only briefly become legal adults play a game.

And you know what, dammit, this weekend was worth it. To share that experience with people who have always felt the same way I have about this game and experience the type of euphoria and joy that can only come from sports, in one of college football's greatest atmospheres and leave with a win, is a memory I will cherish the rest of my life.

Happy Valley was amazing. Penn State's whiteout experience is as advertised. That place felt like an absolute pressure cooker, so much so that I don't think my heart rate ever dipped below 120 and my entire body is sore from the tension that ran through it for 4 hours last night, and maybe a bruise or two from the celebration which ensued as total chaos erupted in our section after Dillon Thienemen sent us all home with a monster win.

It's setting up to be a special season, hopefully we can create a few more special memories along the way.

I LOVE THESE DUCKS 🦆
