Last week on the Alaska peninsula a humpback whale washed up on the beach. The was a good and bad thing. It was good because it was surrounded by bears. It was a bad thing because it was really tough and dangerous to get close enough to photograph. I decided that I was going to push the limits a bit and managed to ease my way through the rocks at the oceans’s edge before making it to about 75 yards from this whale that was surrounded by bears. This dark sow with 3 cubs (the one with its back to the camera) was very aggressive and fighting off several other bears to make sure she and her cubs got their place at the table. It was obvious she was in charge. (MORE TO COME ON HER LATER 😳) This video is of her and another much bigger sow fighting over the whale meat. The dark sow ended up running the bigger sow and her cub off. It’s so cool to be able to witness and capture nature in its truest form. This was my first time hearing two big grizzly bears growling and fighting with each other. It definitely gave me chills. What happened next gave me more than chills. Stay tuned.
