🎚️ ANOTHER PROJECT I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MIXING & MASTERING! Link in Sarah's bio

🏆 FOR YOUR GRAMMY® CONSIDERATION

@sarahfierek — The Mining of a Gem

Best Americana Album
Best Immersive Audio Album

I had the pleasure of contributing to the Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering of this beautiful project alongside some talented engineers.

One thing I have to say about Sarah Fierek is that she has an amazing pen! She’s not just a singer, she’s a true singer-songwriter who knows how to tell a story, put emotion into words and make you feel what she’s singing.

And that’s what makes a project like The Mining of a Gem special. The songwriting is the foundation. Our job as engineers is to respect that foundation while bringing out the depth, texture, dynamics and emotion of the music.

For me, immersive mixing isn’t just about putting sounds around a listener. It’s about creating an experience that supports the artist’s vision without taking away from the song itself.

Sarah describes this album as a journey of digging beneath the surface, and I think that speaks to both her songwriting and the creative process behind the record.

@dlnzmusic #1 & 3-12

Congratulations to Sarah Fierek and the entire team of musicians, producers, engineers and collaborators who helped bring this project to life.

Proud to have my hands and ears on another project submitted for GRAMMY® consideration!

What Comes After Me is another new song I am putting out before the release of the third full length December Friend album, which will be out later this year. Whether we live to a ripe old age or not, our time on earth is fleeting. What Comes After Me is a recognition of that truth - the truth of impermanence. The song was in the works before my mom passed away, but it came together after her death. Thanks to @latecambrian for the perfectly tasty guitar solo, Jeff Victor for the subtle piano touches, and @blakeeiseman for making it all sound good. Please check out December Friend’s What Comes After Me, available now on all streaming platforms.

I’ve had an unwavering passion for the Grateful Dead since about 1986. Like other loves, it has grown deeper over time. At some point in 2024, I needed to lift my mood and I doubled down on the Grateful Dead. Although the Grateful Dead ended 30 years ago, there’s always something new to learn about the band and their music. I wrote the song Hunter’s Universe, which is named for Grateful Dead lyricist, Robert Hunter, as a dedication to the beautiful universe the Grateful Dead created. The song is out now on all streaming platforms. Many thanks to my December Friend collaborators, @johnlatecambrian and Jeff Victor for, once again, their brilliant playing. And sincere thanks to mix engineer extraordinaire, @blakeeiseman for making it all sound great.
