★ 𝐘𝐀𝐆𝐊𝐈 ★
Hailing from Lebanese roots, and based in both Sydney and California, YAGKI is a queer alternative rock artist with pop sensibilities who transforms personal survival into her music.
After overcoming a childhood coma and navigating a disadvantaged upbringing, she used music to carve her own path, building her career across Australia and Los Angeles entirely independently.
With milestones including performing at Warped Tour, the Emmys 2026, and the VMA Awards 2026, plus a 12-date US and Canadian support run with PLAYLUNCH including sold-out shows in Denver and Mercury Lounge, New York.

★ 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐌𝐒 ★
Her energetic pop-punk stylings give the thrill of being at a festival, and the passion of being in a sweaty moshpit.
Blake’s career is just beginning. And if you’re a vinyl-collecting, iced-coffee-drinking, over-thinking emo.....she’s definitely your next music obsession.

★ 𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍𝐄 ★
Two parts emo boy, one part disney princess, and ALL parts skanky clown - it’s Winter Greene! A cult sensation in burlesque circles for their blatant disregard of the gender binary, their bendy face, and for having the perplexingly jacked shoulders of a french bulldog. Winter has won awards for their de-pantsing prowess, being the titleholder of Mx Burlesque Victoria 2025, and have entertained crowds from all over; including performing at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, and touring Australia with BONEZ Queer Party.

★ 𝐁𝐎𝐖𝐍𝐙𝐙 ★
Bownzz is the total mayhem that sends chills down the spine of any within earshot of their shrilling production. Ensuring both your ear doctors and therapists stay booked and blessed

★ 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐁𝐈 𝐆𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐇 ★
Barbi Ghanoush is one of Gadigal/Sydney’s brightest and juiciest emerging drag artists; dazzlingly gorgeous, unapologetically opinionated, and outrageously fun!

★ 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐔𝐒 𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐔𝐌 ★
Glittery, Glam and ready to party- Magnus Opium is your Drag King host with the most!
This triple-crowned king from Dharawal land rocks with electric syncs, velvet vocals, and a good time for all.

@blakewilliamsau provides the pop punk tunes reminiscent of the late 2000s which creates a vibe of going skating at skate parks in California. Her smoothly mellow vocal deliveries are so smooth the fog machine and the overhead lighting above her are vibing with the music. Additionally she makes occasional eye contact between the crowd and her fretboard which not only highlights her concentration and focus on ensuring the chords come out clear and crisp but also observing the growing crowd numbers.

Also drumwork - the energy and passion showed across every single beat, fill, technique etc. The way he was accenting the crash, ride and hihat also showed whereby he maintained a very steady tempo/rhythm as a result.

Also Blake encouraged crowd participation with the clapping which is engaging. Also Blake would once or twice in at least 3 songs take the mic off the stand and go for a bit of a stroll. Actually she looked intentional with where she's going eg stage right to get the crowd to our left singing and then downstage left. Another song sees her getting the crowd to sing the "whoa-oh" harmonies which is also an engaging activity to do so we are a choir symphony.

Perhaps the main highlight of the set is when she stood on the bar counter after she put her guitar back on the guitar rack. This makes her mighty, like she is conquering OAF Gallery Bar in a powerful way. This showcases that she is not slowing down nor stopping anytime soon.

It's been a long while since I last visited the place and from the get go I noticed an extended platform on downstage left and near-centre downstage. I think this is actually great as Blake utilised the downstage left nearing the end of her set.

It's been 2 years since I last saw her perform a proper set (hmm Duke 29/6/2024 where she opened for Raising Ravens and Lady Lazarus) and her consistency is maintained through strong strumming of power chords and very mellow vocal deliveries.

A set I enjoyed which got me feeling nostalgic yet at the same time feel optimistic with the pop punk genre

🎟️ Recovered from King St Crawl yet? Good, because there’s a TON more killer stuff emerging, independent and DIY artists to see in Sydney this week:

🎶 The Kids These Days fundraiser at 7th Day Brewery has an absolute banger lineup (Thu, free)
🎶 Sweetie offer up late night treats at Pleasure Club (Sat, free, cover slide)
🎶 Hum On King record store has two of the actual best artists in Australia doing arvo instores this weekend in the shape of Any Young Mechanic (Sat) and Swapmeet (Sun)
—
Check the last slides for the full week’s list of gigs that I think look like a good time, and link in bio to the Sydney Gig Guide for more shows next week and beyond.
