Music keeps me present.

I'm always aiming to create pieces of music that help me to show myself how I am actually feeling, and to help others understand it too.

Music is My Therapy.

I know it's going to take me a long time to process my father's passing, but I figured that writing music to pay tribute to his memory would be a good start.

“Who You Are,” the second single from my upcoming EP “Phantom Islands,” is out today and available to stream.

I sang on a few parts of this track, something completely new and challenging for me, but I’m really happy with how it turned out.

The track and the full EP were mastered by @aneek_thapar . A big thank you to @blank.dust for their support throughout this project, and to everyone taking the time to listen.

Testing out my live performance of "Overwhelm", "Second Wave" and "Residual" from my Second Wave EP in Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland.

My Father's funeral service took place just over the hill from where this was shot, at The Island Crematorium. This area has a heavy energy for me now, and I feel this EP gives me the strength to lift it.

How it started vs. how it ended 💡🎹

Sometimes a track begins with just a simple chord progression before the rest of the world builds around it. This one also gives Satie a polite, loving nod along the way.

This is the piano motif I came up with nearly twenty years ago , which subconsciously inspired the melody in my track "Overwhelm".

"Second Wave EP" OUT NOW on Blank Dust. Link in BIO.

For me, music has always been a source of healing and a source of understanding myself and other people. I have really come to respect in the last year how important it is to truly put who you are in to what you create, because it helps you understand yourself even more. This can give you the strength to deal with pretty much anything that life throws at you.

I lost my father, Brian Desmond, to lung cancer in April of this year. And sometimes I wonder if I am grieving in the correct way. I have been assured by many people who have suffered a similar loss that there is no obligation or set time. When it comes to grief, quite often it starts a long time after the loss has occurred. The only thing I know how to do is to continue to tell my truth through my work and to show that to people.

These emotions were at the core of this EP. The track "Overwhelm" was inspired by a fever dream that I experienced on the night that my father told me of his diagnosis. "Residual" came from experiences with emotional ups and downs and spirals of coming to terms with my own grief... And "Second Wave" was me combining both of these emotional realities in a format that would actually make me move... Because I am someone who also processes through movement and dance.
