Last night at the @heartlandblackchamber with @toastmastersofficial District 209, I received a certificate of appreciation during our toastmasters open house gathering.

For a long time, I was perfectly happy lashing every day and doing my thing, but eventually I started feeling like I needed more. I didn’t know what “more” was, I just knew there was this little void I couldn’t figure out how to fill.

Then I found out about this thing called @thelashconference.

My lash artist and I bought tickets to go together, buut then she found out she was having a baby the same week, which meant I was going solo. 😅

I wanted to back out SO many times. I didn’t know a single person going, any “lash influencers” or really any brands besides PLA. (The first 2 pictures are from last year’s LashCon with Michelle & Erin from PLA, two of the only people I even knew of going in. 🥹)

But I knew I needed to go, so I went. Alone. 😅

It forced me to put myself out there, start conversations, sit at tables where I didn’t know anyone, ask questions & make myself uncomfortable. & somewhere along the way I realized I was not only doing it, but surviving. 🤣

1 year later, one of the biggest things I’ve learned is to just put yourself in the room. Going alone was the last thing I wanted to do, but looking back, it was exactly what I needed to become this version of myself, and because I did it, I found the “more” I’d been looking for.

Community. 🤍

I didn’t need more from lashing, I needed people around me who understood it, people I could learn from, look up to, support & be supported by, and now I get to call so many of them my friends. 🥹

Going to LashCon this year was SO fun because I couldn’t wait to reconnect with the friends I made last year, meet & connect with new faces, and even get to be a part of someone else’s first LashCon experience too. 🥹

These pictures felt full circle, but I have endless others I could’ve posted with people I’ve connected with over the last year.

I’m so grateful for LashCon for putting me in those rooms, & to be part of the PLA Powered Trainer community and for the education, support & friendships that have come within it. (The last 2 pictures are from this year with some of the trainers who were there. 💞)

One thing I’m learning in this season is that sometimes you have to create the experience you wish existed.

Beauty Mogul Yacht Club was exactly that. 🤍

A boat full of women from across the country, good energy, real conversations, champagne, hookah, food and a chance to breathe before a full weekend of Black Spa Expo madness 😂

And baby, we did not play about the details either.

Black truck arrival, all white dress code, beautiful setup, perfect weather and @BrisDreamYachtTours really took care of us.

Getting to host this with Kell of Bare Luxury Hair Removal (@barelhr_) and Brittany of B Lashed Ink (@blashedink) made it even better.

This night reminded me that networking does not always have to feel like networking. Sometimes the best connections happen when everybody can just relax, have fun and be themselves.

If you were on the yacht, drop a 🤍 so I can find my girls.

And if you missed it… I’m starting to think Beauty Mogul Yacht Club may need a round two 👀
