All business
on the start line.
😎

Running is a big part of my life,
but it’s not my whole life.
I take my business seriously,
I take my running seriously.
I just don’t take myself too seriously.

Driving to broadcast a road race with @tri_guy51 at the 2026 @blazingraceproductions to get these shots at night was absolutely worth it. @dsmwaterworkspark you have a beautiful park and city of Des Moines IA as your backdrop #desmoinesiowa #nightlifephotography

This has never been about running.
It’s always been about the people.

Somewhere along the way, this stopped feeling like something we organize and started feeling like something we all belong to.

Community isn’t something you create. You make space for it.

The rest happens on its own.

People show up. They come back. They bring a friend. They cheer for strangers. They make someone else feel like they belong.

Before long, it becomes something bigger than any one person.

That’s the kind of community you can’t manufacture.

Thank you for making the first 51(5K) feel like something so much bigger than a race.

the only reason this was possible was because of people and businesses like @tri_guy51 @blazingraceproductions @fleetfeetdsm @cotahydration @pudlpadel and True Time Racing Services 🤝🔒

no expectations. just effort.

a measured 5K. a clock. and a community that shows up for each other.

run as hard as you want. or don’t. this one’s about putting yourself on the line, however that looks for you.

see you August 3.

Side Quest!🔥

We've teamed up with @515runclub to put on a 5k time trial/race this August. The event is free and will have official race timing, so you won't want to miss out. Same start time and location as your normal Monday night run club, just with a start/finish arch and guided course.

For those just starting to run, there is an optional 1 mile event that will also have official timing.

August 3rd
Start time ~ 7PM
Start Line @pudlpadel

See you out there!👊

In an effort to make sure @theblazingraces are 3 really great events, for the time being, we are postponing the Central Iowa Race League.

We hope to see you out there at The Espresso Mile on May 31st.

@theblazingraces Des Moines Spring 4-Miler 2026🍀

The 2nd edition of this race was a blast. Leading into race, it was a bit of a rollercoaster from a race director standpoint with snow early in the week, 60s Thursday/Friday, and back down to the teens by race day. We got lucky that all the snow melted and really once you got moving, the cold air wasn't too bad.

From a preparation standpoint, my fitness felt good, but I needed to be cautious with a slight hamstring flare earlier in the week. So I went in with the mindset of getting a good controlled effort. This mindset waa even more important when I didn't finish setting up the course until 30 minutes before the start, which meant a 7 minute warm up. The 5am-8:30am race setup is no joke😅

With that being said, I got out with a group of @don.agisha and @eeb_ean_warrick the first mile ticking off a pretty controlled 5:02 mile. We worked a bit more in mile two before they slowly pulled away as I ran a 5:08 for the 2nd mile. The third mile I was pulled in and settled into the group behind me. This moment of not leading gave my body the rest it needed to fight the wind in the last mile. The 5:08 split put me at 15:18 for 3 miles. Once we approached the 3 mile mark, I made a push to break up the big group and limit having to "kick" too hard. The final mile I spent trading turns with Josh Evans and a few other guys as we reeled in the next pack. Even without really kicking to be cautious with the hamstring, I closed in 5:07 to finish in 20:26 (after some 0.X splits) and 14th place.

Overall, I'm happy with where I'm at and how the event turned out! A huge thanks to everyone who race, supported, and volunteered❤️
