That my path crossed with Maurice Hines—a beautiful man with graceful, powerful moves—was one of those magical events in life where you pinch yourself that this moment is really happening.

He was a spiritual being with a presence that radiated elegance, visible even in his slightest moves. 🙌 HINT: Always watch the hands...

He well understood the beauty and power of being in a body and he knew how to use it. It’s not that I was so much into tap, it was that he broke boundaries through its medium and invited us into the sheer joy of dance and movement.

My own resilience continues to astound me. I’m taking today to thank 19 year old me for fighting so hard, basking in her ability to find joy, forgiving her for the difficult coping mechanisms she developed, and feeling unbelievably grateful to those who ran towards me in support when I was sick — instead of running away. Here are some chemo shots and little insights into my bout with blood cancer. I was so, so sick. And so, so brave. I am growing up, but “cancer me” will always be 19, headstrong, flawed, and beautiful. Thank you to everyone who’s loved me, thank the universe for modern medicine, thank who-knows-what for my surviving the worst infections, and extra thanks if you pay it forward today by joining the bone marrow registry, donating to @danafarber, or gifting a @chemo_comfort kit to someone who needs it. Happy 6 years cancer free, little Ev 🥰

International Women’s Day is pretty special in our family, because it’s my mom’s birthday. And this year @blemperly deserves a pretty major round of applause. While we’ve been locked down avoiding a killer virus, my mom also BEAT CANCER (and raised a puppy) (and looked damn good doing it.)

As a KOZAKH ambassador, I’ve been challenged to share an inspirational woman in my life to celebrate International Women’s Day! #femalefounded - and my choice couldn’t be more obvious. 🤍
