CONFIRMED!! The extremely talented @angeloumae 🇵🇭 🇯🇵🇬🇧🏝😍 joins the #Global12Festival Summer 2020 line up! The offering from Angeloumae, “Love Don’t”, sees the young singer bathed in glittering lights in her video. The track itself is a gently bumping piece of R&B of the Jorja Smith and Mahalia variety, stitching together delicate melodies over an unintrusive instrumental. Having moved from the Philippines to Edinburgh at the age of 5 after her parents split—and speaking very little English—a young Angeloumae felt isolated and cut off from the world around her. That sense of alienation is something she poured directly into her music, using at as a means of expressing herself, as well as escape. It was hard being the only Filipino girl, especially at such a young age,” explains Angeloumae. “I felt like I had to blend in with everyone and I didn’t like standing out. There was a lot of Chinese references, which sparked a lot of feelings of isolation and loneliness and that’s what led me to start song writing. Through music, I could express myself, my feelings and be free creatively. I no longer had to hide who I was. Music became my therapy.” You can read more about her on @complex and @isawitfirst .

Our #global12 song of the week goes to @iamshakka 🎉🎉 Following the success of his now platinum 2018 hit with AlunaGeorge Man Down (which is currently on over 90 million streams across platforms), Too Bad Bad is Shakka’s first offering in 2019, wetting the appetite of a fan base which has been starved for too long!

Shakka says on the new track, “Banx & Ranx sent me a bunch of beats, and this beat stood out – it was raw and sexy without being try-hard. It felt like I had to come with sauce, a song that is just a vibe from front to back. When we sent it to Eazi, he jumped straight into the studio, whilst he was on tour, and knocked it out of the park. He delivered a no holds-barred, serious Nigerian / RnB vocal. Our finest collaboration to date.” His unquestionable vocal ability and individual style is showcased perfectly on the new single and is a taste of what has attracted an array of artists from around the globe to work with him such as; Wretch32, JME, AlunaGeorge, Young Thug, Mr Vegas and more.

This new offering with Mr Eazi, shows how proficient Shakka is at creating music that appeals globally but is quintessentially British.
