This week’s student-athlete highlight features Blessing King.

Blessing is a senior forward on the women’s basketball team from Columbus, OH, pursuing a degree in Communications with a minor in Journalism.

Looking ahead, Blessing aspires to build a career in sports media as a reporter or broadcaster, using her experience as a college athlete to bring an authentic, inside perspective to the stories behind the game. During her time at Marshall, she has worked with HerdZone as a student sideline reporter, covering volleyball, soccer, and men’s basketball. These opportunities have allowed her to represent Marshall both on the court and in the media space while developing skills in interviewing, storytelling, and sports coverage.

“The support here at Marshall has been unmatched, and I am forever grateful for my time here. Being a student-athlete has given me the opportunity to grow both on the court and in the media space, helping me build the experience needed for a future career in sports broadcasting.”
