whatever plans daughter and i had in mind for Sunday were swept away by the appearance of bro’s farmhand early morning at the kitchen door with a huge palanggana of the biggest bagongon and halaan shells i had seen in my life ✨ sacks of humongous telescopium shells and clams had travelled over 170 kilometers from the brackish waters of bakawan on the shores of southern Quezon, along the western side of the Bondoc Peninsula overland to Alfonso, Cavite ✨ in the Arenas clan, Bagongon is A Big Deal. to my late, much loved, and sorely missed mother-in-law, the OG Queen, an exceptional cook, bagongon was one of the unparalleled delights our glorious Philippine waters had to offer. she was determined to make sure we knew how to prepare them and patiently demonstrated the technique of extracting the bluish-purple, neon green, and greyish white alien-looking spirals inside the shells. tasted truly out of this world namit ✨ Julia and i dove into our collective memory banks and partnered for the cook. it took a lot of scrubbing, hours and hours and hours of waiting as six or seven changes of sea-salted water helped the shells expel what they took home from the mangrove waters that would not taste good at all✨ we didn’t have gabi that night, we made do with what we had: coconut oil, onions and garlic, tanglad from the backyard, fresh gata from coconuts from the farm, siling pansigang, sea salt, a bit of patis Tagalog, freshly cracked black pepper. no more than ten minutes on the cooktop✨ sumakses 🤩 we surprised ourselves. yey praise God. salamat, Panginoon. as always, Your timing is perfect 🕊️ perhaps it felt most like a banquet because for one moment, we were back in 1998, Mommy Julieta was present, beaming her approval. she had the most charming smile. grateful for the 17 years of life and love with her✨ kwento about the clams at some point. first observation: fattest clams i have seen ever. these will make some vavavoom linguine alle vongole✨ 📸 @blessmybag

Ate Julia and i are ✨ thank you for your hard work, son, all these years. praise God✨ no NDRRMC RED rainfall alerts were keeping la familia away 🔴 we were baha-ready. congratulations to all the first Philippine cohort graduates, CICS, Dr Martin Camara, D.C., ICSC, MSCP, and your multinational team of faculty members, the global community that’s cheered you on and helped birth the first pioneering batch for the CICS Chiropractic Specialization Program 🌏 may your tribe increase with Godspeed, that more and more good hands may heal discomfort, ease pain, bring relief, and enhance vitality especially for those who need the most care 🙌🏼🤩 “I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into His abundance so that I may reach the purpose for which Christ Jesus laid hold of me to make me His own. I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭14‬

once upon a time… happily ever after. all and only by His grace🕊️ ✨❤️🕊️✝️💫 in action, always up to something, preoccupied ever since, Angeli. no crib could contain you, you climbed up and over anything, everything in sight. funny, creative, super sharp, tireless, too kulit, a dynamo 🌩️ you’re more like that than ever, “so naughty” Mommie described you, even more zealous and relentless, unashamed to proclaim your childlike faith in the love and power of our Lord Jesus Christ, compassionate and generous to those in need. nothing impossible fazes you. still stubborn and determined, sometimes tough, always loving✨ i love you very much, HBD, beloved sister. thank God for the gift of your life, your amazing care for your husband, your persistent love and faith 💌🕊️✨ “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, ‘Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. ‘Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬-‭6‬ ‭

“Loving Others Well” “Jesus said a lot of things. Beautiful, enlightening, and important things. But there’s one command that sums up how we should live... ‘A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ John 13:34 “When we look at Jesus’ life, how did He live out this love? And how can we model His actions in our own lives? “Love compelled Jesus to give up His privileges. As Creator and Lord, Jesus could’ve done whatever He wanted. But what He wanted was to temporarily relinquish His rights and even put on human skin—so that we could be made right with God. “Love compelled Jesus to prioritize people: The woman at the well. The unclean leper. The woman with the issue of blood. The despised tax collector. The desperate centurion. The thief hanging next to Him on the cross. Jesus didn’t see problems—He saw people. “Love compelled Jesus to serve others. He washed His disciples feet. He went out of His way for the marginalized. He stopped for the sick, weary, and broken. And in the end, He gave His own life. For the long-time sinner and the seemingly put-together person, Jesus died so that we can truly live. “Love compelled Jesus to value truth and grace. In a world where some elevate grace and others prioritize truth, Jesus valued both. He turned over tables when God’s house was turned into a den of thieves, and He showed great compassion to a woman caught in adultery. “If we’re ever unsure about how to love others, let’s look to Jesus as the ultimate example. He selflessly gave up His rights, prioritized people, served others to the point of laying down His life, and valued both truth and grace. “And as we love like He loved, we’ll become more like Him.” Discipleship Journal, March/April 1990 ©️1989 by The Navigators illustration 🎨 Phil Boatwright

content source: a repost of IG @silverlensgallery NEW YORK: No Place, the first exhibition to bring together the work of Daniel Cabrillos Jacobsen, iris yirei hu, Marigold Santos, and Raya Simpao, opens on Thursday, August 6, 2026. An opening reception will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, preceded by an artist walkthrough led by Dr. Marissa Largo at 5:30 PM. The artists here approach diaspora through distinct visual and poetic languages. For each, painting functions not only as a medium but also as a form of mediumship—a conduit through which memories, histories, and imagined futures are summoned. Like ancient mariners, these artists sail the tides with their diasporic consciousness as their compass. — Dr. Marissa Largo 🔗 Learn more about the exhibition via the link in IG @silverlensgallery bio. #Silverlens #DanielCabrillosJacobsen #irisyireihu #MarigoldSantos #RayaSimpao
