What does the future of creative work need from us? Creative work is changing. New technologies are opening up possibilities, collaboration is becoming increasingly important, and the boundaries between sectors, disciplines and places are becoming more fluid. But what makes collaboration actually work? The Future of Creative Work, a half-day knowledge exchange event as part of our Creative Catalyst programme, brings together creative practitioners, businesses and industry voices to explore the people, relationships, technologies and environments that create the conditions for meaningful collaboration. Across the morning, we’ll move from the bigger picture to practical action, exploring what’s changing in creative technology, what cross-border collaboration really looks like, how networks and spaces can support connection, and what we can do differently to build stronger creative relationships. A morning of ideas, honest conversations, new connections and practical reflection, with plenty of space to meet the people who might become your next collaborator. Click through to see the full programme, and stay tuned for more details! 📍 Catalyst, Titanic Quarter Belfast 📅 Thursday November 5th, 10am-2pm 🎟️ Booking link (and in bio) https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/the-future-of-creative-work-creating-conditions-for-creative-collaboration-tickets-2003121462216?aff=oddtdtcreator&keep_tld=true . This event is free but spaces are limited. Registration is required. Some more photos from our Community Plant Library Event at Culture Night Belfast last week taken by Nonglak! The Green Re:Make Group and David Keys worked on a beautiful set of plant furniture for the plant library. These containers will now find a home in other venues and bring joy wherever they travel! Green Re:Make are passionate about material consideration as well as where objects end up at the end of their lives and how we can be more thoughtful and sustainable about these things. Window frames, seaweed based paint, linseed oil and many other materials were brought together to create these. Photos by Nonglak McFadden @playzeez

Culture Night Belfast is on tomorrow (Friday 18th September) and there are a fantastic array of activities are happening all across our city, so make an evening (and night!) of it and make sure you pop into Bankmore Square in the Linen Quarter to see us as well as our neighbours @vaultartistsni! One of our main collaborators is Kevin from One Bite Design Studio who will be sharing the story of onebite's original Community Plant Library project in Hong Kong as well as a little flax kit (seeds included to grow in Spring) and a plant stories zine about Belfast's Plant Life, Places and People and you can add your own in too - sneak preview of both in the pics.

Through our Community Plant Library project we have had the chance to collaborate with different organisations including David Keys Sustainable Woodworking who is working alongside Green Re:Make on a range of plant furniture pieces for our event at Culture Night Belfast this Friday. What David and the Green Re:Make volunteers bring to the table is a passion for being deeply considerate about materials, environment and ethics. As well as making decisions about designing environmentally sound objects, they think about what happens to them afterwards and how they will safely biodegrade or be disposed of. David shared a few words with us about his own practice, what he considers when designing and what original objects and materials the planters are sourced from. We spoke with Fergal Donnelly, Head Gardener from Linen Quarter BID earlier this week about all things plant related and you can read his interview in our Plant Stories collection on our website! https://belfastdesignweek.com/stories/fergaldonnellylqbid or via the link in our bio Throughout these plant stories, the most common tip we keep hearing from everyone - avid gardeners and novices alike - is not to over-water, so if you are a "plant murderer," that is our top tip to you! Have a lovely weekend! 🌱

Our next Plant Story comes from Jenna McGroarty, Native Coffee's Events, Marketing and Community Engagement Manager. When we caught up with Jenna last week, there was a lovely buzz around Native. There were cyclists, business-folks and tourists all around us and it was great to see so much activity on the waterfront - even mid-week. We chatted about the role that both plants and design play at Native, how a bit of simple planning can go a long way to lower waste and create more impact and how Jenna is enjoying her other new role as a "plant mom" sharing the tips she has learned along the way. Read Jenna's full interview here: https://belfastdesignweek.com/stories/nativecoffeeni or via the link in our bio Artwork by Design Hothouse Residents Rachel Cowie and Beth Schmidt. Drop by next Friday and see us at Culture Night 2026!
