NIL IS EXPLODING… BUT WHERE’S THE COMMITMENT?

With NIL deals and player compensation skyrocketing, should college athletes become employees and sign contracts that create stability, accountability, and commitment?

Players deserve to get paid, but shouldn’t programs have some protection for their investments?

Is this the next evolution of college sports, or are we losing what college athletics was built on?

What do you think? Contracts or complete player freedom?

[ EPISODE 73 ] : COLBY COHEN

Some moments are bigger than the game. Some moments become HISTORY.

Colby Cohen takes us inside one of the most unforgettable moments in college hockey history. Scoring the overtime game-winning goal to capture the 2009 National Championship for Boston University.

From the heartbreak of nearly losing it all to an incredible comeback in the final minutes, the emotions were unimaginable. And then, one shot changed everything.

But beyond the goal was something far greater. The honor of representing Boston University, sharing that moment with his teammates, and forever becoming part of a program’s storied legacy.

Years later, the pride, gratitude, and emotion remain. Championships are won together, but the memories and the people who shared them last forever.

We’re honored Colby shared what it means to be part of something that will live on for generations.

HEFTY ALLOWANCE ?

SIX-FIGURE BONUSES FOR 16-YEAR-OLDS?! 💰🏒

Have we gone too far, or is this the evolution of hockey?
Are we putting too much money and pressure on young athletes, or are we creating opportunities to reward talent, hard work, and commitment?

Maybe this is bigger than the paycheck. Maybe it’s an opportunity for organizations to build meaningful incentives, teach financial responsibility, and give young players a sense of accomplishment while learning how to earn and manage success.

But where do we draw the line? At what point does opportunity become entitlement?
Is this the future of player development, or are we losing sight of what development is supposed to be?

Six figures at 16. Too much, or right on the mark?

Let’s hear it. 👇

YOUTH SPORTS: ARE WE DEVELOPING ATHLETES OR DEVELOPING A BUSINESS?

Let’s ask the uncomfortable question…

Youth sports have become a massive business. Tournament fees. League fees. Travel expenses. Equipment. Private training. The list never ends, and the price of participation keeps climbing.

But here’s the bigger question: Is all this money actually creating better athletes, or just bigger profits for the system?

Are we truly investing in development, opportunity, and the future of these kids? Or have we created a system where revenue matters more than the players themselves?

Somewhere along the way, have we confused more games, more tournaments, and more spending with actual development?

Youth sports should be about building athletes, character, confidence, and a lifelong love for the game. Not just building someone else’s bottom line.

Have we lost our way? Is the system serving the kids, or are the kids serving the system?

LETS TALK ABOUT IT !!
