Yalla to apple picking, to buying, and most importantly, to consuming Lebanese apples. 🍎🍏

Our apple farmers are facing real challenges in marketing their harvest and being able to continue farming!
Apples are not only delicious and healthy, they are an important source of livelihood for families and farming communities across Lebanon.

Yesterday at Chatine’s Apple Festival, the happiest sight was the children, baskets in hand, happily picking their own apples straight from the terraces. Around them, Souk el Akel offered a wide variety of food and local products, adding to a day that brought families into the orchards and closer to the people, effort and season behind what we eat.

More apple festivals are coming, and participating in them is one way to support. But support should not stop there. Buy Lebanese apples from your local grocery, supermarket or directly from farmers. Choose them for home, for school, for desserts and for everyday snacking. The harvest needs a market beyond festival days.

Go. Pick. Buy. Eat. Every purchase counts, and every apple consumed helps farmers move their harvest.

And why should such initiatives stop with a few villages? More communities and municipalities across Lebanon can organise similar events to create direct markets for farmers and turn harvest season into an experience that supports agriculture, rural communities and the local economy.
