What if the knowledge we need isn’t new at all… but something we already knew? 🌱

At our last Black Growth Community Day, @gogrowwithlove helped us reconnect with Afroecology. Ancestral knowledge rooted in land, food, community and reciprocity.

From seed saving and companion planting to storytelling, sharing food and learning alongside the next generation, the day was a reminder that we are not separate from nature. We are part of it. 🌍

This isn’t new knowledge. It’s knowledge we’re remembering.

• THANKSGIVING •
Carnival weekend comes as the unofficial close of the summertime. A time we can hold recognition, give thanks and respect for the iconic and industrious elders and ancestors who built these celebrations, organised themsleves, held resistance, traditions, shaped their joy + built legacies for us to gain, retain + develop on these lands.

🪽Back in July we were blessed for Kemi to reach out from the @achfoodnetwork to host a wellbeing day for local elders on the land. We gathered to share on health, legacy, care and reflected on our connections with the land, food and organising. An unforgettable + pivotal event for us to be graced with the response-ability of hosting. Deep thanks.

🪶As many of our elders transition and / or have fewer years ahead than lived, we are reminded of the impact of picking up the mantle. 🕸️ Of deciding what we hold onto as heritage, inheritance, legacy and tradition and what we carry forward into the futures we are building.

The gathering and the reflections it brought forward, made ever more potent amongst the bachannal.

🫘How do we want to grow into our collective futures?
🌀How do we practise remembrance right now?
🥥What will we retain + what will we transform from the lineages that brought us here?
🕯️And what will we leave behind for the future ancestors?

Somewhere between questions and musings that help us develop this project, ourselves and our communal practices over time…

Ever forward
