POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Water carries history.

From the Middle Passage to the rivers, streams and swamps that became pathways to freedom, water has played a profound role in Black history. And from Hurricane Katrina to the Flint water crisis, it continues to shape Black communities in ways connected to survival, resistance, loss, healing and hope.

Join Milwaukee Water Commons for a special gathering guided by local artist facilitator Jody Alexander. Together, we’ll explore these connections through conversation and then turn reflection into art, creating personal collage shadow boxes inspired by what we’ve learned, our own experiences and our visions for the future.

All materials are provided and you’re invited to bring meaningful items of your own like photographs, magazine clippings, postcards, beads, fabric, stickers or other small keepsakes to incorporate into your piece.

💧 Ages 18+
🎨 Space is limited to 20 participants
🔗 Registration is required. Reserve your spot using the link in the comments.

Come ready to reflect, create and explore the stories that water carries.
