We really did that.

Our little four month pop up lasted a year. I feel like I aged ten.
Blk Brw. Nu’man. Me. For a fleeting moment we were able to come together to create the dream place where nothing was an afterthought. All of the food and all of the drinks were treated with the maximum care and importance. As was the space.
Stepping into what was such an important space in our community was overwhelming to me. While our food and bev offerings were not exactly the same as paradis, I feel that my colleagues at four did a really great job of maintaining the ethos and honoring what came before us, which to me went far beyond food and bev.
The same can be said for what I learned at four. I learned about people. I learned about air conditioning. I learned about freezers. Grease traps. Things I can’t mention here. And a little bit about bread and pastry too.
Four was a dream. Sometimes it was also a nightmare. But it was ours and I’m so proud of what we achieved there. Thank you Andres, Ashley, Nick, Nu’man, and Taylor for letting me be a part of it. Thank you Brian and Bianca for having us.
Also thank you a million times over to everyone who came by. Whether you came dozens of times or just once. Every single person who walked through those doors meant the world to me, every single time.

I’m not entirely sure what the future holds for me at this moment, but I’ll be around. Trying to sell my bread wherever I can, and hopefully working towards a more permanent bakery in the future.
Until then you can keep up with me here and if anyone wants bread or to talk about bread or some sourdough starter or anything really, please message me. Love you all 🩷

Hey Miami! King Tides are back this week (Nov 3-9) and ready to turn your street into a temporary water park. Peak flooding hits Monday through Sunday with high tide times ranging from 6:40am to 11:51pm, so basically pick your poison for when you want to deal with surprise ocean content in places ocean shouldn’t be.

For those new to Miami’s seasonal aquatic chaos: King Tides are higher-than-normal tides that last about 3 hours and create ‘sunny day flooding’ where streets randomly become rivers despite zero rain. It’s Miami’s way of reminding us that climate change is real and we’re all just living in a future Atlantis preview.

Don’t drive through the water (it’s deeper than it looks and your insurance won’t cover ‘I thought my Civic could swim’). Don’t let kids play in it (that’s not regular water, it’s mixed with pollution, trash, and mystery liquids). And definitely don’t park in low-lying areas unless you drive a submarine.

Check the full tide schedule on the city’s site and report flooding to 311. Or just accept that this is normal now and invest in some cute rain boots.

Some moments from the last few days.

We put a new drink on the menu, called “Jenny Who?” She’s bubbly, she’s sweet, she’s tropical, you should meet her.

Restocked on Ghost Town oat milk, some coffees from our friends at Eastlick Coffee Co. and some other goodies, take a look next time you’re here.

Been hosting some classes for our lil summer school program. Thanks to everyone who’s showed up so far or signed up for the classes that are yet to come, we’ve enjoyed learning with you.

You’ve had it and you love it, it’s the “Curious Chai”! (Or, if you want, Chai Curious 😏)This one is a sweet, creamy drink built around your choice of masala chai or decaf rooibos chai by the one and only @soul.chai, with banana and vanilla syrup. This drink isn’t super complex but it’s not as straightforward as it seems at first glance either. An idea with the give and take between sweetness and spice at its heart, this is the only house drink that can be had hot or iced. If you somehow haven’t had it yet, you know what you need to do.

This is not an introductory post but a farewell one. Say goodbye to “Karma Made Me Do It”, another original drink by the one and only Andres. You probably didn’t know you needed this Afro-Colombian riff on Vietnamese iced coffee until you had your first sip. Changed your life didn’t it? Maybe it made you do some things you weren’t quite in control of, like maybe order another one? As for the name, that comes from Andres’ love for comics, specifically X-Men. More specifically, a queer, Vietnamese mutant who goes by the name Karma. And guess what her special ability is? It might include the ability to make you compulsively order sweet drinks at a particular cafe. Pull up tomorrow to see what new drink we’re adding to the rotation.

Sometimes, less is more. Maximalism is definitely the trend right now when it comes to drink creation. The world of specialty coffee and tea drinks is one of bright colors, novel ingredients, or unexpected twists on established recipes.

Truth is, there’s nothing new under the sun and that’s certainly true of the “grown-ish”. And much like the cocktail it’s based on, it adds up to much more than the sum of its parts. This one is a nod to the classics. So take a sip, shoot some film, throw on some oldies. Cheers to it all.

The best oat milk in all the land is on our shelves and behind our bar too! Really cool to be using @ghosttownworld at our little spot. Too often in our industries, we see ownership that is hopelessly out of touch with the culture of the workers and the unsung value of the labor these industries couldn’t exist without. A real pleasure to be using oat milk made by baristas. Cartons are on the shelf for sale.
