Had a great day today. @sylvesterscustoms and @blowngrit from Sylvester Customs came out to my garage and did a one-on-one roadmap session on my 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. We went over the overall game plan, tackling the engine bay, what primers to use, and even which paint supply companies to work with.

From there, we dove deep into what comes next after the engine bay is completed. We covered block sanding, proper filler application techniques, different types of hardeners and reducers, and the overall process behind doing bodywork the right way.

Most importantly, the classes and online seminars that Travis and his team offer are not only going to help me with this build today, but will also help me continue learning and perfecting this craft long term.

I really want to thank Travis and Mike for coming out and spending a few hours with me at my home. The knowledge and direction they shared gave me a much clearer vision and roadmap for this car moving forward.

If anyone is interested in learning more about what they offer, I tagged Travis & Mike in this post. Check out his website and subscription-based seminars, including the at-home online sessions. He makes it easy for people who can’t spend weekends at the shop but still want to learn the process correctly.

For me, being able to have them come out in person, evaluate the car, and help map out the build plan was absolutely worth it. Many more sessions to come. Thanks again, guys.

Swipe from the first picture to the last. This 1947 Cadillac took thousands of hours. People see the final gloss and assume we use secret techniques. We do not. Dedication is not just a feeling you have for classic cars. Dedication is blocking the same quarter panel for three days straight because the guide coat showed a flaw the size of a dime.
Beginners often rush the foundation to get to the exciting color; intermediate builders know the paint only exposes the truth of your bodywork. The hours stack up fast. You have to do the boring steps when nobody is watching. That is the only way a bare shell becomes a finished product.
Swipe through to see the actual reality of a full build. Which stage of a restoration tests your patience the most? Tell me in the comments.

This clip is from an upcoming YouTube video—but we don’t teach everything on YouTube.

If you want to actually learn sheet metal fabrication, TIG welding, and real-world restoration techniques (not just watch highlight clips), that’s what our hands-on classes are for.

We break down:
• How professionals shape panels without filler
• How to control heat, warpage, and metal movement
• The exact processes we use in high-end restorations

👉 Spots are limited. Classes are live.
