Sunday was our final descent into basement with this merry bunch of assholes 🥹 I’m so fucking proud of the work everyone is dis in this show 🤩 I feel SO lucky to be trusted to bring Kevin to life 🥷 I’m grateful for this whole team and all the tireless work that happened in a short amount of time to put this up and keep it running smoothly 🧱 I’m thrilled that it has resonated with all y’all 🥰 I’m also really really sad that it’s over. Theater is incredibly fleeting. Every night this group got to live a lil life together, work thru things experienced in our own lives, & use the healing power of creative collaboration to fuel the process 🎨 All while ACTUALLY being friends who have deeply personal connections and a shared history that goes back nearly 20 years or more. That’s part of the intangible magic that made this experience extra special 💫💞✨You could feel that chemistry from the jump and it was infused into every performance we did together.

The tears I cried for the end of #TombQuest mirror the ones shed by our characters throughout their journey. Tears of sadness for time lost. Of joy in knowing you’ve reclaimed time together. Of fulfillment in completing a monumental creative endeavor. Of uncertainty for what will come next. Of peace in knowing that the people you surround yourself with are those who bring out the best in you. Of laughter when cracking each other up. Of pride over the thing you created and work you’ve done over decades to bring you to this place 💗

This isn’t goodbye, TQ. It’s “see ya later” 🧙🏿‍♂️🥷🧝🏼‍♀️👩🏼‍🦰🤵🏻

Getting to make theatre with your friends for an audience that shows up to participate with such passion and energy truly feels like living the dream. I just feel so freaking lucky to make things that I believe in for people who care. To quote @nicole_tuttle’s beautiful write up on the show, @therealteamstarkid’s Tomb Quest is “about the friendships that survive time, distance, grief, and change. It’s about the stories we create together and the ways those stories continue carrying pieces of the people we love.”

💙☕️The proshot is OUTTTT baybeeee!!!☕️💙

Watching this show come together last summer was the biggest thrill. I’ll never forget watching the first run from the house with the biggest smile on my face. There is nothing like seeing everyone’s talent, creativity, focus and hard work finally blend together to make something beautiful, stupid, hearfelt, scary, intimate, horny, funny, etc.

I am 100% a broken record, but I am so grateful for the talented and kind team who brought this to life. I am honored that they trusted me to lead. I am honored that they cared for this production so deeply. From our producers, to our design team, to our band, to our SM team, to our creative team, to our production team, to our principal cast, to our understudy cast, to our engineers, to our electricians, to our carpenters, to our stagehands, to our runners, to our videographers, to our proshot editors!

I know internet content is made to be consumed in 5 seconds and leave us asking “what’s next?” but as you watch, I hope you feel the immense amount of skill, work, and care that went into every element of our live show. I hope you feel the joy and love shared between everyone onstage. It’s not just a consumable product, it’s a captured moment in time created by real people with real talents, working with so much intention, who had a fucking blast working together. Thank you for helping us prove that that still means something.

Friends, #TheGuyWhoDidntLikeMusicalsReprised pro-shot is now available before the July 4th release!!!! 🎼🧟‍♂️☄️👯‍♀️💻 Where to begin with my feelings about the experience of remounting this show? I’m fighting (and failing) the instinct to write an essay-long caption 📜 So I’ll keep it succinct: this was easily one of the top entries in my list “Most Special and Fun Shows I’ve Been Lucky to Be Apart Of” 💖

When revisiting a seminal work, that’s not always a guarantee! But when it’s with this incredible OG cast (plus the unreal @lordbranner! 😍), a team of absolute pros, enthusiastic audiences who made it possible and showed the hell UP, and, of course, the magnificent @slowpez8 captaining the ship, that’s a damn recipe for SUCCESS. 📈🤩🧨🏆👏

Easily one of the most rewarding aspects of this process was watching Lo step into the role of director 💃🏻 and exceed every expectation🏋🏻‍♀️ Her vision both honored the original and enhanced the things we had neither time nor money to do in 2018. She built a team that operated with kindness & specificity & a keen eye. She empowered everyone through a safe environment and led with intention, clarity, & an overwhelming trust for everyone involved. Her talents as a performer & creative brilliance/leadership as a choreographer are well documented. But to see her take on this massive undertaking (for the first time, no less!!) and ABSOLUTELY smash it… god damn.🎖️ I’m unfathomably proud of what she pulled off. 🥹

And those good vibes trickled down! The camaraderie that comes from a process like that is infectious. We all simply adored doing this show together. 🥰 Every day people brought their best. That’s where the bar was! But when the people are a dream & everyone feels set up for success, your “best” comes naturally. Apropos of everything… this team came together as one and did a real-life apotheosis 💙💙💙💙💙💙

We’re days away from opening this remarkable production on the WEST END 🤯 but we wouldn’t be w/o the tireless work of EVERY SINGLE PERSON who brought this show to life last summer. So I hope you buy the proshot + the 80 min long doc from @curtmega (link🔗in bio📲) to see how it all came together! 🫶

I have put off posting because trying to convey my feelings & this experience in an insta post stressed me OUT. It’s impossible; I could talk about this team & process forever. Whatever I say here still feels insufficient so just KNOW THAT.

Directing was a dream come true. Leading this team was an honor. AND getting to revisit a character I love so much?! I am grateful to Nick, Brian & Matt for their trust. Directing this project was very meaningful to me on a personal level, not to be emo!!! But it’s true. It’s been a journey to get here.

I am so proud of, and in awe of, this team and their incredible & unique talents. I am endlessly grateful to each person for trusting me, for collaborating so freely, and for putting their ALL into making this show and this experience the absolute best it could be. Everyone’s talents are on FULL DISPLAY here! And what a gift it was to witness those talents and to know these amazing people. Not only is this team immensely gifted, but they are so kind. I am so thankful.

Thank you so much to everyone who championed this show, from the KS to the live shows to now the digital ticket. I hope when you watch this show you not only recognize the beautiful work, intention and commitment that went into it, but the joy and love as well. This time with these people was incredibly special to me.💙🐝🐿️🧠☕️🔨

(veryyyy late posting this but…) Cathy was the most challenging and rewarding role of my career to date, and i am so insanely grateful to everyone at @sierra.madre.playhouse for this experience and for giving me the opportunity to play the role of a lifetime

thank you to my family, as well as all of the old & new friends for coming out, we had packed audiences the entire run and i am so grateful for every single person who came on this journey with me! (special shout out to my mom and michael who loved the show so much they flew down from sacramento a second time to come back for closing night, to @jennaszoke for being my cheerleader and coming twice, and to @elenaflorea who came THREE TIMES)

also a HUGE thank you to @thebennatan and @camrynjoanna for supporting this artistic journey from afar, to my roommate and neighbors who didn’t complain when i sang through the entire show twice a day for three months, to @tiannalouisecohen for resurrecting my love of MT, and to @jessfisher who helped with my initial audition and assisted me in somehow getting cast out of 800 women (so. insane.)
