BlueLearn, founded in 2021 by Shreyans Sancheti and Harish Uthayakumar, started as a student community on Telegram and grew to over 250,000 members worldwide, with significant contributions in providing students from tier-2 and tier-3 colleges access to learning, networking, and job opportunities. Despite raising significant funding from investors like Lightspeed Venture Partners and 100X.VC, the startup decided to shut down and return 70% of the raised capital to investors in 2024.

Currently, both founders are working on new ventures. Shreyans Sancheti is building a stealth startup, while Harish Uthayakumar's recent linkedin post gives a hint that he is working on a fitness and healthy eating project, encouraging people to join a beta testing group aimed at weight management and muscle building.

Upskilling and job search platform Bluelearn has announced a close of operations after struggling to grow, the latest company forced to shut down due to growth, regulatory or funding challenges. The three-year-old startup will return 70 percent of the capital it raised to its investors. “We have made the hard decision to shut down bluelearn and return 70% of the capital we raised back to investors,” Harish Uthayakumar posted on the X platform on July 21. Founded in 2021 by Uthayakumar and his BITS Pilani fellow alumni Shreyans Sancheti, Bluelearn began as a Telegram group and quickly grew into a large student community with over 250,000 members.

Bluelearn, a community-led edtech platform, will shut down and return 70% of its raised capital to investors, co-founder Harish Uthayakumar announced on X.

He noted the difficulty in building a venture-scale business with Bluelearn despite being conservative with capital.

Founded in 2021 by BITS Pilani Goa alumni, Bluelearn aimed to help Tier II and III college students network and learn skills and raised Rs 3.25 crore in June 2021 and $3.5 million in August 2022, with a post-money valuation of $10.8 million.
