📍BLUER HOUSE (@ JB) Have been wanting to try this sourdough place in JB and happy I got the chance to with HJ and KK during our day trip to JB!! :) They have several sourdough sandwiches to choose from, and each in either half or whole. When I asked the staff what the normal one-person portion is he said whole, and I'm glad we ordered three wholes because it wasn't very big at all! We got three flavours (all 25RM each) to kinda share – the Bluer flavour which is basically blueberry and cheese (pic 5), the Balsamic Grilled Chicken (pic 3), and the Tartar Tuna (pic 4)! They were all pretty good! The sourdough was nicely toasted and had a nice crunch and texture :) I was undecided between Bluer and chicken so it was great they sliced each whole into two so we could share :) I actually ended up liking the tuna more than the chicken, because the chicken one was slightly dry! But my fav was definitely the Bluer (pic 1) 😍😍 it was a perfect mix of sweet and savoury – with the sweetness coming from the housemade blueberry jam, maple syrup and wild honey, and savouri-ness from the brie, cheddar and mozzarella! If I could make a request I would wish for gorgonzola to be in the cheese mix hehee but I know not many people love it so it's probably better they left it out to be appeal to the masses! Because the sandwiches weren't particularly big I didn't feel very full from the meal which I think wasn't a bad thing too since we had a full day of food planned! But yea I think a single whole sandwich leaves you feeling like it's "just nice", if you don't want to feel stretched. We could also choose from single-origin or their house blend for coffee but I simply opted for their house blend for my hot black, and it was not bad at all :) I think I'll be back to try some of their single-origin ones!! Oh anyway they provide complimentary refillable water we could help ourselves to so that was quite nice. We reached at exactly 9am - when they open - on a Thursday and were the first customers :) there were a few customers after, but didn't get to the point of being crowded. It's a small space though and I can imagine it filling up quite quickly over the weekend!

🇲🇾 Bluer House 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Super yummy sourdough sandwiches in JB! The sourdough were toasted to the right amount of crispy, while retaining its chewiness. The drinks were pretty mid though. Only gripe is that the cafe was quite small so we had to queue for almost 45minutes before we could enter... Bluer (25RM for whole) This sweet savoury combination was really gooddd. Imagine a grilled cheese toast but with blueberry jam and honey, sounds kinda weird but it works! Balsamic Grilled Chicken (25RM for whole) Chicken breast was tender and not dry at all! Slightly tangy from the balsamic glaze and creamy from the Mediterranean sauce, really yummyyy 😋😋 Cold Brew Pear Tea (16RM) This was some pear tea with yakult and chestnut pearls. BLUER HOUSE - Café (@bluer.house ) 53, Jalan Ibrahim, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia had zero expectations when i entered, and this did not disappoint at all. the interior shares the similar industrial rugged design, but the super wide windows with venetian blinds drew me in right away; it felt as in i’m looking right back at the Johor streets in a movie screen（人生如戏？） it was not quite quiet, as we were there during late noon on a friday. the seats were almost taken up but we managed to find one near the window. we were hungry so we chose our food and drinks right away. i got the Truffle Shroom sourdough toast (wild mushroom infused with truffle oil, mixed green, mozzarella, truffle paste on top), super crunchy and juicy at the same time, i love how it’s well seasoned but not too savoury and just enough oil to my liking, and also the Special Dirty White drink (housemade pomelo paste, special milk, espresso), very pleased with how well their pomelo paste go with the acidity of the coffee, and their milk stood out too but not overpowering the main characters. man i’m still thinking about the toast and coffee if you’d ask me, would i go back just for them? hell ye. what are you waiting for! come see for yourself! 5 places to eat in JB! Thought of sharing some spots i’ve tried that i think are worth checking out on your next trip! Okay, THIS is for the Hokkien mee lovers!! known for their KL-style Hokkien Mee and honesty this is the kind of dish when i want something really savoury, smoky and full of wok hei. If you’re going with friends, definitely order a few dishes to share instead of just getting one thing. Ordered their fried rice too! Its a must try. Vibe 9/10, sandwiches were good! And coffee too. This is one of those places i’d save for when i want to slow down and just have my breakfast! apocalypse jb, definitely not the typical JB restaurant. creative tasting menus, interesting ingredients and dishes that you probably wouldn’t normally order on a casual dinner out. I’d save this one for when you’re looking for something a little more special and want dinner to be the whole experience, not just a meal. Best for: a special dinner / date night / food experience ✨ Arest Cafe is one I’d definitely add to a JB café-hopping list, especially if you want something more substantial than just coffee and cake. Their Salmon Mentai Pizza is the one that caught my eye. crispy pizza + salmon + creamy mentai is basically a combination I can’t say no to. and their mala pasta was bomb too. The Mermaid Restaurant, they have live seafood and lots of dishes that are made for sharing, so this is definitely one I’d bring a few friends or family to. Best for: seafood lovers + big group dinners 🦀🦐 And now I’m hungry again…If you’re heading to JB soon, save this for when you inevitably say “where should we eat?” five minutes after crossing the border. 😂 Which one would you put at the top of your list?
