SO HOW MUCH CAFFEINE IS TOO MUCH CAFFEINE??

I get asked this question all the time (especially because I’m a coach AND a coffee lover).

The FDA recommends no more than 400mg of caffeine per day (note: a Venti Pike Place Roast from Starbucks has 410mg for comparison), but that’s a ceiling that you shouldn’t necessarily touch if it’s not right for you.

Did you know that your ability to metabolize caffeine is actually genetic?! So know this… the following are indicators of too much caffeine for YOU specifically:
👉Jitters
👉Racing heartbeat
👉Anxiousness
👉Inability to fall asleep & stay asleep
👉Tummy troubles (you know what I mean)

In general, if a certain amount of caffeine doesn’t leave you feeling like yourself, then don’t drink so much of it. Listen to your body and if needed, start tracking how much caffeine you intake each day and the correlating feelings experienced so you can best understand where your limits are.

Recently, I got to get out of town and have some fun hiking, exploring, celebrating friends, and getting to be the student, NOT the teacher! I got to take a couple of Pilates classes, find yummy coffee shops, eat a ton of ice cream, and indulge in some mimosas! 🍾

I'll be honest, I am not someone who does well with any kind of altitude. We left Denver to drive up to Idaho Springs at around 7,500 ft, then, drove up another 500-1,000 ft to START THE HIKE...I knew I'd be resting a ton. I brought snacks, water, emergency O2, and a book because I knew they'd be leaving me behind and coming back for me at some point. I did get to read next to the trail with the water babbling in the background, a rainbow, and the sun shining on me while I waited for my friends to return. It was pretty picturesque!

Before the hike, I decided to wear my Body Braid with the leg attachments so that I could worry more about my lungs than my unstable joints. I am a hypermobile individual and didn't realize until more recently in the last couple of years that all of my weird injuries growing up and into adulthood were all related. I'm still waiting on an official diagnosis and genetic testing to see if I have not only HSD, but maybe H-EDS or another form of EDS.

I still had to rest a ton lung wise and body wise, but I'm glad wearing my Forme Bra, Apollo Compression Socks, and my Body Braid made me feel pretty good during and after. I'm thankful I have come to terms with what I need and I don't make excuses for it or feel sorry for myself if I need something different than another person.

It's okay to rest and not try and keep up with others. Do your own thing and be proud of it! 🤩
