What a Night to Remember! 🎬✨

We’re still celebrating the creativity, courage, and collaboration that made Film Noir’s inaugural 72-Hour Film Experience so special! A huge thank you to everyone who took on the challenge and brought their stories to life on screen. Getting to see your films featured and shared with your loved ones was such a special moment, and we’re grateful you chose to be part of this experience.

We also want to give a thank-you to our 1st Film Noir Cohort and everyone who helped bring this experience together. From the planning and preparation to the behind-the-scenes work, so many hands, ideas, and hearts helped bring this vision to life. As our first cohort, you helped create this experience, and we appreciate the time, creativity, and energy you poured into this project.

A special thank you to @arcuscenter, the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership, and @readandwritekzoo, RAWK, for providing spaces to host our events and bring our community together. Your support helped make this experience possible!

This is only the beginning. We’re taking the memories, lessons, and inspiration from this first experience with us as Film Noir continues to grow. Thank you for being part of the beginning and helping us make space for more stories, more creativity, and more voices to be seen on screen. 🖤🎥

One more, because the production photos are incredible @debcbsizzler and yes, I’m terribly sad this one is over.

Wildly blessed by again, the @kazoocivic and their decision to put this story on the big stage in it’s entirely.

Angels in America is a play that is read and studied, for many reasons. It’s also more relevant today than anyone would like it to be, and therefore needs to be onstage more and more and more.

The entire company made this one I won’t forget, with all of the above in mind and brought their absolute a-game to the experience. In a world where we can’t get a reasonable bill or budget passed, it was a blessing to go to the theatre, where every human there needs to do their job at the exact right moment (second) and feel like there’s hope. It might sound silly, but the theatre is a balm to the soul in so many ways.

I won’t forget it, ever, because it made an impression on its audiences and we all know what that feels like.

And again, to Tony Kushner who wrote a role so nuanced; a character who I believe has a tremendous heart despite being in a deep amount of pain. Thank you for making her make complete sense when you pay attention, thank you for giving her friends and hope and humor: I could play Harper for months and discover more.

And big giant thanks to @d.terrywilliams for all of it.
Also for showing up at Gilmore on Thursday for Much Ado, only smiling and thanking our usher who directed you to your namesake theatre, giving me a hug and saying “I am depressed! I need a comedy!”

Me too! But maybe also a hot dog.

I’ve stated it was a dream role, but the actual experience was an also dream. An irreducibly, real dream. Thanks to the Tony Kushner, the company and the cast, and of course. Our director, who I could go on and on about and do. Thank you D. Terry.

To my scene partners: thank you Kayde, for being a perfect figment of my imagination in being a joyful, playful and receptive scene partner onstage. And Ken, it was a joy to develop this complicated dynamic with you in an easy and joyful way and play onstage every night. To Caleb, I was so scared of this scene I love so deeply being too close for me to disappear into it, and you made it so easy to dream/hallucinate with you every night. And August, while we never met in this world, it was a blast to tackle that split scene with you and thank you for keeping the ball in the air!

And to all of you, and Tom, RJ, Lisa Marie, Lucas, Tammy and Sandy — it was so much fun to watch you work and disappear and deepen into the story. Thank you endlessly for the amount of time, heart, talent, professionalism and energy you put into our production, which I am so proud of. Thanks for making me laugh and cry onstage and off.

Endless thanks also to the truly amazing and supportive crew and company of the @kazoocivic - which continues to make me proud to say it’s one of the places I first fell in love with theatre. Thank you for doing this play, in its entirety, and giving it the space to let it truly spread its wings.

And to our large and hardworking crew for this show. Thank you! The actual angels of this production. Your support was felt in not just your hard work but attitude.

There’s MADNESS in me and that MADNESS sets me FREE!

It’s been about a week since closing and I can’t quite shake this show off!

Thank you George C Wolfe for writing The Colored Museum! I am forever changed because of this show! This cast and crew? Tremendous! Perfection! Beyond proud! Miss y’all goofy asses too much🥹! It was an honor and a necessity to work with y’all. And to Kayde, Delanti, Pitt and May May, to work with you all again together was a dream, let it not be the last!🤞🏾❤️
