Last night was the opening reception of the North Jersey Photographers' Exhibition and my first time exhibiting my work in a museum.

Seeing Witness, Guarded, and Becoming — three photographs that began separately and eventually found a shared home as What We Carry — hanging together was something I'll remember for a long time.

Thank you to curators Ray Schwartz, Tina Maneca, and Joseph Shneberg for selecting my work and giving me the opportunity to be part of this exhibition alongside so many talented photographers.

And to the fam, friends, fellow artists, photographers, and everyone who came out, introduced themselves, shared a conversation, or spent a little time with the work — thank you. The encouragement and conversations meant more than you know.

Last night was a milestone, but more importantly, it felt like the beginning of something.

Some highlights from last evening’s North Jersey Photography Exhibition opening reception at @mora_museum in downtown Jersey City! There are some stunning photos on display from portraiture to landscape to abstract. My favorite Bahamas babe got married yesterday!

And what a thing of love it was.

Meecah has always been a woman of vision and precision. (I’m a poet. Say it again.) One of the things I admire most about her is how grand her vision is, like, so big. But oh so specific. I sat and listened to her talk about what this wedding was going to be for so long, and to watch all of those thoughts and details actually come together the way they did was such a gag.

And for those who knew it was a vegan wedding… the answer to the question is that I did in fact eat every delicious thing offered! Lol.

I’m so happy Meecah found Brandon, and just as happy Brandon found her.

As her song says, God heard her prayer.
As he always does.
