Pick up your Crown 👑

SN: I’ve been unaware of the actual lyrics for many years singing this song

I would sing

It won’t always be like this
Gods gonna protect your concerning wish 🤷🏽‍♂️

Knowing the actual lyrics has a new potency

The lord will perfect that concerning me 🙌🏽
(That’s such a mouthful 🙏🏽🙌🏽)

GAINS JOURNAL 📝
I grew up in a family that sung (sang) together

and it is through singing that I realized there was a universal native “tongue/language” in gospel music and hymns.

The (majority) of the tongue/songs/lyrics was of praise, worship, surrender, thankfulness, mercy, grace, power | OPTIMISM. FAITH. TRUST. CERTAINTY: omnipresence, unconditional love

[Imagine]
the power of sound, emitted - when you’re singing unified in a room where everyone cares for each other (for the most part ) and we’re 50+ deep

God was surely in those rooms, sanctuaries, parks, concerts, practice sessions, choir practices, barns/garages, ihop/waffle houses!

Where I’m from we were ⛪️Seventh Day Adventist, Baptist, Methodist, COGIC, Non-Denominational in Murfreesboro NC (Eley’s, Everette’s, Parker’s, Lassiter’s, Whiteheads, Turners, Bishops, Newsome)

Those in the family or community who couldn’t sing learned how to play instruments to usher those, who could so that we could have SERVICE (a traditional ceremonial order of conducting reference to God)
🗣️CHHUURRRCCCHH

Annnnd. Best believe EVERYBODY got some church!

It didn’t matter if you were a thief, dope boy, gang banger, white, black, blue or brown you was in getting some Jesus 😉

We would have gospel programs and concerts.
-like a juke joint for the lord! 🙌🏽

Quartet Men Ensembles, Praise and Worship teams with flag girls, mimes, expressional praise dancing……

Church was an experience that evoked a feeling that can never be lost. ( P R E S E N C E )

Church created a signal that I’ve always remembered through my life and if I wanted to feel the presence of God I would simply sing or listen to music.

Special shoutout to @bmoore95 for this astounding piano piece. Follow him on YouTube and listen

I really can’t begin to express how proud I am of this group! We’ve been working together as a team for I’d say a solid 8 months now. They’re blowing my mind every week!

This past week, we had our first rehearsal. Any other week, we meet an hour before doors open to run through material. It was so refreshing to do a vocal rehearsal and no one complained about being there later than anticipated, we all just wanted growth for the team!

I can’t wait to see where we are a year from now! Thank you to each member of Sound of Impact!
