1. Does your camera have dual memory card slots, and do you duplicate the images?

One thing that I have learned in my time as a photographer is that technology is not fool proof! Memory cards corrupt, and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to recover images on a corrupted card. One way that I avoid photo loss is by utilizing my dual slots to double each image that I take.

2. Do you have a contract?

PSA: NEVER hire a vendor without a contract! Contracts are there to protect both you and the photographer. I can’t tell you how many horror stories that I hear from brides who never receive their galleries because there was not a contract in place. Contracts also set expectations. They should outline when you’ll get sneak peeks, final gallery, prints, etc. Please save yourself the grief of loss and make sure your vendors have contracts.

3. Ask if you can see a full gallery, and specifically request to see images without optimal lighting situations!
Venues can get dark, and you want to make sure that the images you get back are high quality even in low light. Make sure your photographer knows how to handle their equipment, especially in low light.

Mr. & Mrs. Dierkes 😍

One of my favorite parts of the day was the ringing of the bell after the ceremony at @pleasant_hill_chapel! So special and so much fun - video at the end! 🤍
