Every great play, tv show, or movie that you see has a moment when the writer(s) say, "Here. Let's read this script and see what we got." Shoutout to all the talented artists 'round the table last week as we workshopped This Part of His Life Blooms, a new play by @thee.christinaanderson and directed by @malkiastampley . Gratitude to the audiences that came out on cold Chicago days and nights to support us as we were featured @goodmantheatre 21st Annual New Stages Festival 2026🙏🏾👊🏾

30 years ago tonight, I asked her to “Be The One”! Thanks to Frank Orrall and all of Poi Dog Pondering for making that night so memorable. At the Riviera, in Chicago, Frank was wonderful enough to dedicate that song to “Jeff and Kathy on their special night.” I proposed to Kathy, after a mad dash to find her as the song was ending. What a night! We have a big year ahead as we each turn 60 and celebrate our 30th anniversary. New Years Eves are always special as we remember that night with family and friends. Thank you all for being part of our lives!

Today we close a show that has my whole heart. Thank you to Jeff Augustin and The Bengsons for creating this gorgeous piece, to @timdirects for bringing me on board (twice!), and to my collaborators @fobbsy, @bobbycorn500, @isaiahtyrelleboyd, and @ladydanefe for sharing this journey. I truly believe our country would be a better place to live if everyone could see stories like “Where the Mountain Meets the Sea.” 🏔️🌊
