Always Yours, Never Mine is a great Star Cinema film for this year.

This film has a strong first and second acts, but its third act has some weaker moments. It was really fun seeing JoshLia in those different eras. Kumusta Ka by Ice Seguerra is the right choice as the theme song and has replay value to it.

You could never go wrong with Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto's chemistry. With this film, they shined in their own, and after Un/Happy for You, they keep on improving. Joshua Garcia's performance as Apollo was raw. There are moments that you will relate to his character and how he yearns. Julia Barretto, on the other hand, was quite something else. Her performance as Luna was a roller coaster of emotions.

Bob Jbeili was hilarious, and Joy Barcoma, Karen Reyes, and Migs Almendras were fun to watch as the barkada. Bianca Umali's performance was superb, and her chemistry with Garcia was good. Ms. Chandra Romero gives out a heartfelt performance.

These two actors were excellent; sadly, the material given to them was just alright. Their blend of drama and comedy is one of the reasons why JoshLia is one of those love teams that never fails to deliver. This film has one of those tropes that Un/Happy for You has, and it's better if we just see them in a rom-com once again. The characters and their decisions will make you feel different emotions.

Despite these flaws, Always Yours, Never Mine is topped with outstanding performances from the cast, a theme song that will really get to you, and the feeling of yearning that everyone felt is really that relatable.

Stuck On You is an entertaining dark romantic-comedy film.

This film feels like a throwback to those 90s and 2000s local comedies. Non-stop laughs and the kind of film you'll watch if you want to have a good time.

Xyriel Manabat is a star. She was excellent in this film. Her comedic timing was on point, and even her acting chops were on point. You can never go wrong with a Xyriel Manabat performance. She totally deserved this leading role. River Joseph was good in his performance. His chemistry with Manabat was fun.

Roger Naldo was a scene stealer. His performance was one of the film's hilarious moments. Viggo Franco was also a standout.

Director Mikko Baldoza and writers Arden Rod Condez and Sonny Calvento created a film so fun. It's one of those comedy films that will be a cult favorite.

Stuck On You is the film for you if you love these kinds of romantic comedy films.

Stuck on You is a campy, laugh-out-loud comedy that had me in stitches. Imagine going off to do a side hustle, meeting someone you're attracted to, and then finding out that your job is to kill him because a gang has threatened to kill you and your family if you don't follow orders. Talk about a side hustle gone wrong! That's the wild premise of this film.

I've seen Xyriel play the silly, all-out moody, highly feminine, and seductive girl with rambunctious energy before, but she's such a riot here! I love how she can be flirty and naive, sexy and sensitive, all at the same time.

Oh, and River Joseph is quite the eye candy. He fits the mysterious, rich-billionaire type straight out of a Wattpad novel, and he has good chemistry with Xyriel on screen. His character is complicated, though, and there are moments when you can tell he's still finding his footing in the role. There's plenty of room for improvement, but I'm looking forward to seeing River grow and soar as an actor.

The film also has a colorful cast of characters who had me laughing out loud with their sheer silliness. Bob Jbeili and Roger Naldo aren't actors I'd immediately expect to see playing villains, so I love how their inclusion adds another layer of fun to the film.

And then there's Viggo Franco as the über-lazy kuya who'd rather do nothing than lift a finger. He delivers his lines with such natural comedic timing, making his character feel like a modern-day Juan Tamad. Viggo is a natural comedian here, and I particularly enjoyed how effortlessly he lands his jokes without overplaying them.

I'm not usually a fan of slapstick comedy, but I didn't expect something this ridiculous, so unapologetically 90s in its humor, and so distinctly Pinoy to make me appreciate Filipino comedy this much. Stuck on You reminded me that sometimes, all you need is a ridiculous premise, a bunch of hilariously absurd characters, and the right amount of Pinoy humor to have a good time. 3.5 stars.

Catch Stuck on You at the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival. You can still catch it until tomorrow, October 4, in select theatres! Rated R-13.
