Another River to River Relay race in the books! An 80 mile course across southern Illinois, from (near) the Mississippi River to the Ohio River, split up into 24 legs shared by 8 runners per team. This was my third year running it, and I was runner 4 this year (after doing 2 and then 8 in the last two).

There was a cold front that passed through this morning early, and our race started at 7:45am in the steady rain, with temps around low 60s. As the day wore on, the rain let up (just became intermittent drizzle), but the temp dropped to about 47° at the lowest mid-afternoon (honestly great racing weather, when the wind wasn’t blowing too hard). It stayed overcast all day, until right at sunset… after we had finished our post-race dinner and were driving back to our Airbnb, the sun finally came out for a gorgeous sunset to cap a great day.

Out of 210 teams total, we came in 13th overall and 4th in the mixed (men and women) division. More importantly, we pushed, celebrated, and better got to know each other, and spent a fun (type 2 fun - iykyk 😉) spring day running and driving across rolling hills in the heartland of our country.

…And mogging for the camera, of course! 😜
