The Jeptha Bourbon State Shoot Out!🏹

Though there was some unforseen circumstances for the tournament that changed the layout and format, @j.starks_archery hosted an amazing tournament! Absolutely worth the drive over to Kentucky to get a solid start to the indoor season!

I did not pull off what was needed to make it to tomorrow's head to head matches, but I have been refamiliarizing myself with my G.O.A.T hinge during tournaments and was happy with what I accomplished!

I upped my poundage at the beginning of the week and I definitely felt it towards the end, but I made shots as strokg as possible and am excited for December tournaments to start rolling around.

Competition day!

Today was mainly another step in the national team selection process for the European Indoor Championships. Sooo that meant the qualification round was EVERYTHING, while the elimination rounds were mostly for fun and experience.

Even though I had already shot a score that secured me a spot on the team, I still wanted to shoot well!

And wow... it felt HARD.

My shooting has felt a bit off all week - tense, unstable, and just not quite right. Today was pretty similar. I didn't sleep well, my body felt a little sick and weak, and everything seemed to require more effort than usual.

Buuuut I can't complain too much, because I still managed to shoot 582 points.

That's a pretty good result! In fact, just a week ago, it would have been a new national record.

The strange thing is that, despite the good score, the shooting itself just wasn't that enjoyable.

Still, I'm happy that even when everything feels this difficult, I can manage to put together a solid result. That's definitely something positive to take away from today!

My elimination round scores weren't particularly high, but I still managed to make my way to the gold finals, where I lost in a shoot-off by just a tiny margin.

Oh well! Next time, I guess I'll just have to shoot a better 10 if I want to win... 🙄

There’s a kind of peace out here that’s hard to find anywhere else. The stress of everyday life gets a little quieter. The noise disappears and for a few hours… God’s country is my therapy. 🏹🦌🍁🙏🏼

In 2024, God put it on my heart to start a program to help kids. With my passion for helping youth and my love for archery, The ELMS Project was born.

Two years later, God called me to do something more. In June 2026, Arrows of Truth, a bow and Bible study for youth, began with just one kid. Today, we have over 16 youth and their parents coming together to grow in faith and enjoy archery in a supportive environment.

It’s humbling to see what God is building and the community that has come together.

The best thing I ever did was stop living for myself and start living for what God called me to do.

Looking for stability - Day 2!

Today I brought my shooting shoes to the club, aaand instantly felt like I could stand a bit more steadily on the ground!

Other than that, though... my shots still feel pretty meh.

Just like yesterday, I can still hit some really good 10s, but it feels like SO much work to make that happen.
Tomorrow's competition will definitely be... interesting.

Buuuut I'm actually curious to see what I can do with my shooting. This little "difficult" period is also a good opportunity to experiment, search for solutions, and maybe discover something useful that I can take into future competitions - ones that might be a bit more "serious" than this one.
So let's see what tomorrow brings.

P.S. Can you spot something new on me? 👀

YEP! These are going to be our @best.indoor t-shirts for this year 🤩

I got the first sample today, and believe me - they feel AMAZING to wear! And they look pretty awesome too!
