Pokerdox: The Zoo Eps. 4

“The Turn Up”
Who is Your Favorite Character?

INT. GIRLS DORM - NIGHT
The scene opens with the two groups of guys and girls and dancing in a dark lit dorm party. As we hear reggae we see each paired off dancing in slow motion. We see Trevor dancing with Daphne. We see Devon dancing with Torrianna and we see Willie dancing with Toriannas roommate. Everyone
seems to be enjoying themselves and the vibe.
A hip hop song comes on and we see Trevor and Devon both getting drinks at a small table away from the speakers.
DEVON PRICE This is wild bro. I appreciate yall
forreal. I WILL be back. Cheers.
TREVOR Anytime bruh but this is nothing. You gotta come back for blackout weekend.
DEVON PRICE Should I even ask? (smiles
drunkingly)
TREVOR Yeah. Ask Willie. If you remember.
(laughs) I gotta piss.
Trevor then makes his way through the crowd out of the very steamy sweaty room. We see Devon dispense jungle juice from a community cooler into two red solo cups and head his way back into the middle of the party until he reaches Torrianna
in a corner.
DEVON PRICE Jungle Juice for you madam.
(jokingly) Pick One.
TORRIANNA You take a drink first
DEVON Say Less. You don’t trust me.
Devon takes two large sip from both cups.
TORRIANNA Gotta be safe. No disrespect. So we
dancing again?
DEVON PRICE Of course. I do have to take a piss
though. Be right back. Unless you want to come with. Devon heads towards the door.
ROOMMATE He’s cute. What are you waiting
for?
Tory decides she is right. Things weren’t going to work out with Trevor and her. Trevor has also left the party and Daphne notices Torrianna leaving and chases after them.
DAPHNE: This hoe!!

Pokerdox: The Zoo - Eps. 3

Deleted Scene from Script:

Trevor makes his way to the dormitories to shower and get ready for his night out. Along the way, he recognizes many drunk college kids and students traveling to their various pregamming destinations.
Trevor nods and quickly says hello to a few groups of kids in passing until Trevor approaches another busstop along the
route to his dorm. Before fully approaching the bus stop a young, cool african student, Cornelius “POPS” Ofunto, appears seemingly out of nowhere riding a skateboard.
“POPS” Yoo!!! Trevor. What’s the word for
the night?
TREVOR I don’t know. You tell me. I just
got done playing poker. I have no
idea whats going on.
“POPS” Shumway?
TREVOR Scumway? (smiles)
“POPS” Ayyyy!! I’ll see you there.
They both share a collective “ayy” and shake hands as they walk pat each other. With Trevor’s back now toward the bus stop he doesn’t realize a group of black women standing
there that happened to hear his conversation. As he turns around he realizes who they are and before he could say anything else they start to mock him. Daphne and three of her friends are standing at the busstop.
DAPHNE
Ayyy! Scumway!! Ayy!! (Her friends
join in)
TREVOR Don’t y’all got some exams to study
for or something. Y’all act like I
ain’t see all of you at the house
party on Shumway last week.
FRIEND 1 No sir! That wasn’t me.
FRIEND 2 Chill. I actually don’t know what
your talking about.
TREVOR Yeah okay.
FRIEND 1 Was this before or after you jumped
off the speaker on to some chick.
FRIEND 2Right onto his new girlfriend.
DAPHNE Ohh!! Really?! (sucks her teeth)
FRIEND Yeah girl. You ain’t hear. I heard
they an item..
TREVOR I thought you wasn’t there?
Trevor grabs Daphnes ass in secret. It’s clear now what they have is a secret and she hasn’t told her friends.

Had the pleasure of seeing The Spike Lee: Creative Sources Exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum on my recent trip back home & I’m honestly mad I couldn’t go again before I left! A curation of objects drawn from Spike Lees personal collection with items ranging from first edition Ann Petry books to a game 7 basketball net from 1970! So much to take in & admire! A must see if you’re in Brooklyn!
