Morning Lagunak!
What a brilliant party last night, no words 🫶
The DJs were awesome and everybody did their best to create, once again, that magic atmosphere we love.
Big thanks from the Gastro Reggae/Reggae Beat Weekender staff—you are the soul of the party!
Let’s focus on today:
• For the newcomers: Check the address of the venue (Mogambo, Trintxerpe) @mogambotrintxerpe because there is a bar with the same name in another neighborhood.
• Important: Remember, only cash tonight (beer is €1.50) and no tickets at the door.
• Timing: Doors open at 21:00 / 9:00 pm. We really appreciate people coming early to make our jobs easier.
• Rules: No drinks near the decks, neither hands on them. Respect the venue, the SoundSystem and operators, the staff, the people on the dancefloor, and the neighbors. This respect is our key to success year after year.
We want a safe space for everyone, especially for women, who represent a huge part of the crowd . Let’s make sure everything continues just as it should be.
Enjoy this beautiful day in Donosti and see you tonight for the 2nd round. Let’s make it as epic as the previous 5 editions!

Apenas quedan dos días para el weekend y estamos bastante ocupados con los preparativos. Aunque nos gustaría, no nos da tiempo a contestar a todos los mensajes y peticiones.
Os dejamos unos tips para los nuevos (y para los despistados 😉):
• Donostia es una ciudad pequeña y se puede ir andando prácticamente a todos los sitios.
• Hay una gran variedad de transporte público — ¡consulta tu aplicación preferida de mapas o acércate a la oficina de turismo!
• La fiesta del viernes (20:00- 1:30)es en la Cofradía Vasca de Gastronomía, en plena Parte Vieja.

• El sábado (21:00-3:30)bailaremos en la Sala Mogambo, un poco más alejada del centro.

🚌 Transporte a Mogambo: Puedes tomar los autobuses 13, 14, 38 (Dbus) o las líneas E01, E02, E05, E08, E09 (Lurraldebus) hasta la parada de Trintxerpe. También puedes usar el metro (Euskotren E1/E2) bajándote en la estación de Herrera.

There are barely two days left until the weekend and we are quite busy with the preparations. Even though we would like to, we don’t have enough time to reply to all messages and requests.
Here are a few tips for newcomers (and for the forgetful ones 😉):
• Donostia is a small city and you can walk practically everywhere.
• There is a wide variety of public transport — check your favorite map app or stop by the tourist office!
• Friday’s party will be at the Cofradía Vasca de Gastronomía, right in the heart of the Old Town (20:00-1:30)

@bombadilsound from Donostia formed by 3 young people.
Although they have been in the reggae scene for longer, they released the equipment 5 years ago and today they are working with a configuration with 4 sub bass boxes.
They usually play a wide selection of reggae in their sets, from 60s ska to 90s UK dub, but focusing especially on the Roots and Rubadub styles of the 70s and 80s.
In addition, the musical selection is combined with the live singing of the singer Beñaranks, with his toastings in the classic Jamaican style.

Bombadil 3 gaztek osatzen duten Donostiako Sound System kolektibo bat da. Denbora gehiago daramaten arren reggae musikaren munduan, ekipoa duela 5 urte estreinatu zuten eta gaur egun 4 subgrabe kaxa dituen konfigurazioarekin dabiltza.
Reggae aukeraketa zabala jartzen dute saioetan, 60ko hamarkadako ska-tik hasita 90ko hamarkadako UK dub arte, baina bereziki 70ko eta 80ko hamarkadetako roots eta rubadub estiloetan zentratuz. Gainera, musika aukeraketa Beñaranks abeslariaren zuzeneko kantuak eta jamaikar erako toasting klasikoarekin uztartzen dute.

Bombadil es un Sound System donostiarra formado por 3 jóvenes. Aunque llevan más tiempo en el mundo de la música reggae, estrenaron el equipo hace 5 años y hoy están trabajando con una configuración con 4 cajas subwoofer.
Suelen pinchar una amplia selección de reggae en sus sesiones, desde ska de los 60 hasta dub británico de los 90, pero centrándose especialmente en los estilos de Roots y Rubadub de los años 70 y 80.
Además, la selección musical se combina con el canto en vivo del cantante Beñaranks, con sus toastings al clásico estilo jamaiquino.

He has been playing records since 2009 +/-, with around 200 parties over 18 Countries, apart from his own Basque Country.
He has been involved in 20 weekenders in his hometown, Donostia.

La espera se acaba y ya solo queda un mes ¿Todo preparado ya y con ganas de fiesta por ahí?
Tenemos una triste noticia que dar.
Por una cuestión de, llamémosle, mala suerte, debemos postponer la visita de Cello para la próxima edición (así que ya teneis spoiler para 2027), tras un rápido movimiento en el cual, Txino pasa al sabado y añadimos nuevo DJ que se úne al cartel.
Amigo de la casa y uno de los grandes coleccionistas en el estado, os presentamos a : David Cubero

Apasionado desde tiempos pretéritos por las subculturas musicales y por cualquier actividad que mantenga viva esa conexión, recuerda su flechazo con la música jamaicana en los años 90, cuando descubrió que muchas de las bandas que escuchaba versioneaban en realidad a aquel grupo de artistas que, en apenas una década y en un punto muy concreto del planeta, crearon un arsenal de obras maestras. A eso se sumaron bandas como Skatalà, Dr. Calypso, The Starlites, Mr. Review, No Sports o Madness, que lo llevaron de cabeza al skinhead reggae y a ampliar su colección con ediciones jamaicanas e inglesas originales, especialmente de los sesenta y primeros setenta, con predilección por el skinhead reggae, el western y el rocksteady.
En el pasado llegó a pinchar en más lugares de los que su memoria permite recordar: Madrid junto a sus socios de Oldies but Rudies, donde vivió aquel mítico Catch the Beat; el 50 aniversario de Trojan, Donosti, La Rioja, o Segovia.
Ha participado en varias bandas dedicadas a rendir homenaje a la escena jamaicana, además de involucrarse en fanzines, distribuidoras, sellos, podcasts y mil aventuras más.
¿Hasta dónde llegará? Quién sabe.
De momento, el objetivo es claro: hacer pasar un buen rato a los amigos del Reggae Beat Weekend

I fell in love with Jamaican music early on and started collecting 45s in my teenage years. Back then, I ran the monthly nights “Trouble In The Town” (since 2007) and “Jump For Joy” Weekender (2011) in my home region (Koblenz, southwest Germany) together with a friend. Around that time, I was also known as “Count Crophead” and teamed up with my good friend Simon as DJ duo “The Boss Bunch”.
In 2012, I moved up north to Germany’s reggae capital - Hamburg. Here, I joined hosting “Treasure Sounds” in 2017, a night my dear friend Heiko originally started back in 2002. Over the years, my passion for the music has taken me and my record box to various parties across Germany (Reggae Hit The Town in Munich, Kings & Queens Weekender in Hamburg, Right On Time in Cologne, Swing and Sway in Bamberg, etc.), across Europe (Boss Sounds in Barcelona, Get Ready in Oslo, Endless Memories in Eindhoven, Sombrero Club in Torino, Reggae Scorcher in Malmö, Rude Attack in Lucerne, Catch The Beat in Madrid, etc.), and even further afield, including Jamaica (Vinyl Sunday in Drapers, Portland) and Costa Rica (The Aces Sound System in San José) in 2018. Big up to Chineman, looking forward to your Friday night selection and to seeing you again after such a long time.
With the party still half a year away, any TOP5 selection would probably change anyway, but musically no surprises to be expected. I will bring a mixture of rocksteady goodies and 60s reggae scorchers. Being invited to play in Donostia every year since 2021, I hadn’t managed to make it due to holidays or work commitments. This year, it finally fits the calendar - so see you on the dancefloor!
