July 2026 Lessons:

🌾 So many things happened this month and yet I had the least photos. Perhaps it is a good sign that I am living, but because I’m not journaling much again, it’s easy to forget one’s days.

🌾 Never rush things; there’s a time for everything.

🌾 It isn’t healthy to sacrifice one’s wellbeing for passion. Be passionate about your health as well.

🌾 When I was drawing with a fountain pen, I realize that I wasn’t breathing well, because I tend to be super focused on the work and not messing up the illustration. Then when I timed the strokes with inhales and exhales, it helped! Breathing and drawing, the movement of the wrist and the control…Made me think of the film adaptation The Lines That Define Me about how connected our bodies and lives are to our art and the way we draw: “Seasons change. When the scenery changes, so does the heart. When the heart changes, the lines do too.“

🌾 How possible and sad it is to miss a whole life and those who’ve brought a lot of color and joy throughout the years.

🌾 One night, I asked God why did we have to experience the hard things. Why rub salt on the wound and such? I didn’t get an answer in the form that I wanted or expected. I don’t think I know the answer yet either, for now. Or maybe sometimes, I think that life just is, and we learn to live through another day with what we have and with each other.

🌾 I thought of The Catcher in the Rye but specifically this, that Holden Caulfield said: “I was trying to feel some kind of good-bye. I mean I’ve left schools and places I didn’t even know I was leaving them. I hate that. I don’t care if it’s a sad good-bye or a bad good-bye, but when I leave a place I like to know I’m leaving it. If you don’t you feel even worse.” And I resonate with that, too. Knowing of leaving would make us more present with people. But most of the time, we won’t know when our last times would be. So the best would be to sit a while longer, until the coffee gets cold.
